D.C. Set to Allow Illegal Immigrants to Vote in Local Elections so, your a illegal immigrant in DC for a week, you can vote on local policy? gee, if the liberals allow you to do this, who and what are you going to vote for?in reading the article there is no time frame established for, as the article says, 50,000 immigrants to have in order to vote, now who wants them shipped to DC?of course our resident liberals gator lawyer and arizona cat fan are all for this, hope it goes to where they live and it bites them in the rear with ultra-liberal policies.

You’re not even trying. It’s the same residence laws for US citizens. You have to demonstrate continued residency in the local voting district for 30 days.

It has no effect on you unless you live in DC. Why the crying?

you really think this stops in DC?do you think people not US citizens who have been here for years and not applied for citizenship should be allowed to determine new taxes, representation of city councils, vote on new laws? if they want to vote, become a citizen, if they have been here for years and have not taken that step either they do not want to be or have something to hide, either way they should not have the most cherrished of citizenship rights, the right to vote.

My neighbor is not a US citizen but in fact Canadian, and thus can’t vote in federal elections, but is a tax paying resident of the city. Can she not vote in the city according to you?

Taxation without representation is a reason we're not a part of the British Commonwealth. If a person is a resident of, and the local government wants to hear from all residents on a vote on how to spend local taxes, what's the issue? These immigrants are paying taxes. Many say they deserve to have a voice in how it's spent.

Yeah they definitely should have a vote on those matters if they are subject to said taxes and laws, thats the common sense thinking behind our revolution. Anything else is tyranny. Dont like it? Take it up with Sam Adams and those guys.

if they came here with the express desire to become an american citizen, and after years here they did not attempt to become one they should be forced to either become one or leave. look at all the problems england and germany are having with immigrants, i do not believe, and i can be wrong, they have voting rights there.again, you can set a year limit on how long you have been here and refuse to apply for citizenship, but think of this, they are not citizens, cannot serve in the military to defend our country, but want to cheerypick all the advantages and none of the responsibilities.

What if they didn't? There are plenty of people who come here legally, work, pay taxes, send kids to schools, do public service, etc. and don't become citizens for lots of reasons.

if you come here legally, are you not suppose to declare why? if immigrants vote on issues, then decide to leave, they do not suffer the consequences of the results.

These are some strange objections, you are flailing about in typical fashion. I dont think you have to "declare" why you move somewhere (arent we a so-called "free" country), and anyone can leave and "not suffer the consequences," whatever that means. Sounds like you are mad we are stuck in this dystopian hellscape and they have an easier 'out' lol.

They used to throw it in in winter variety packs, but I haven't seen it in maybe 10-15 years. Maybe if I lived in Boston. Its a nice holiday beer.

You already started a thread about this once, and it kinda blew up in your face.
So ... you just decided to try again and hope no one would notice?

so asylum seekers do not have to declare why they want in ?FWIW, my great-grandparents came here in the early 1900's from Germany, the legal way, through Ellis island, studied, took the citizenship test and became citizens.to allow anyone who came here as a immigrant, established as was said above 30 days residency the right to vote is a insult to them and all others who did it right.
