Our recruiting class, specifically the areas they stacked up on, proves he knew how certain position groups were gonna be.
we need to have a convo because is it REALLY? That's the perception but if we looked at it without conference bias, the SEC has been slipping A LOT recently
Well LSU and aTm in general, but LSU is going to be right back with Kelly. Defensively overall in the conference maybe, but I think that is more to do with the offenses. Kiffin, Huipel, and Leach are adding a lot to the conference.
Disagree.....Vols, Bama, UGA, Ole Miss are playing quite well. Arky, UK, and Miss St are solid teams. It's down year for UF, AU, probably LSU for what they historically perform....but other teams are filling that void
Our Def made Daniel's and Lsu Off look WAY better than they are. Ole Miss and Alabama the next 2 weeks will prove that.
I kinda liked how Billy answered that question. Choosing to be Gator is much more than the result of a game. It’s about giving yourself the best chance to succeed in this game of life…with or without football. I feel good about the days ahead and I can’t imagine a better fit as our head coach than Billy Napier. Dude gets it and energetically fits in what we are and what we want to do. Which is win fair and square and don’t apologize for it.
It will improve. I think Toney is a great coach and is the next big hire. I’ll eat crow, but if you look at Venables you can see how a highly regarded coach can struggle. It takes time and talent…and I think it’s coming.
Maybe , we gave up 38 to the Vols and Bama just gave up over 50. Not sure that will be the litmus test it usually is.
I think the perception that we are down as a conference is because there is more parity then evwr before and we cannibalize each other. So when people see the Miss St. , Ole miss, and Kentuckys winning against teams they historically don't win much against people perceive that as the perrinial powerhouses are down instead of those normaly bottom dwelling teams are actually just a lot better, talented and coached then usual.
UF is the bottom dweller team now. The last two years have highlighted our precipitous drop in the conference. Vandy, Missouri and UF at bottom of the conference currently. However, just a great QB and a DC away from winning again.
I am now more than ever convinced that we need every single top DT... DB... Safety that we are recruiting. That and we need to change up the defensive scheme/s.
We are still struggling at recruiting true DT position unless can add another 2 or 3 more in this cycle.
At least, and we need to go to a true 4-3 base defense too. That is to say that we need to be able to line up 4 true DTs on the line and then hybrid the reset of the defensive schemes as we see fit. But about the LSU game, they are a dink and dunk passing team, for the most part. Unless you give them all day long to pass the ball. I don;t know if we had enough good quality DBs to play a nickel or dime defensive scheme. That would be the right defense for a dink and dunk passing team. And it takes many good quality DBs to make it happen. This is one reason why wee need all the DBs and Safeties we can sign in this recruiting class. The true DTs are always a must too.
We may have the worst combination of DT, LB and S in college football. When the spine of your defense has personnel issues as bad as ours, no DC is going to wave a magic wand over that.
And Napier can figure out how to use him. I don’t think our offense fully takes advantage of his strengths. His threat to run should be used more to open up passing lanes.
The Mississippis have to beat someone first. Beating the other middling teams isn’t something to puff their chest about. Beat Bama or the mutts and then they can act like they are something.
Well. Isn't ole piss undefeated right now and cowbells are 5-2. Not really at the bottom of the barrel. Don't really care about either team, but I think OM will beat LSU.
