    That's awesome.
If you ever have the opportunity to converse with my daughter and have less than two hours available, do not work the word "auteur" into your conversation. It will be the rant of all ages.

Her primary complaint is the "auteur" who is a monster, usually not exclusively through abusing women, but which we're all told to look the other way and tolerate due to their artistic genius

This is why every movie needs to be directed by Clint Eastwood, get everything done in a couple of takes and under budget, maybe a few grunts for instructions.

Taylor Lorenz also thinks it's an interesting question, and has a generationally focused answer

Intriguing discussion and I thought, still think, the wave of super hero movies indicates a perhaps unexplored need people have for a champion to fight evil and in justice. Found this chart on line. They are followed by Romantic Comedy, Musical, Documentary, Black Comedy, Western, Concert/Performance, Multiple Genres, Reality, and Educational/

Well example 1 here is the 13th entry in a franchise that started in 1978. Not sure that says much about what is different today. I mean that movie has been playing for 44 years and the well never runs dry.

This thread is additional support that we need Sam Raimi to do the next chapter in the Evil Dead/Army of Darkness franchise :D
