I almost wonder if he just isn't meshing with the new coaching staff? I'm not accusing him of attitude issues because he seems like a good kid but sometimes people just don't get along.

Trent is another Mike Gilleslie Ty’ron Hopper type of player- every time he is the game he makes plays.

I’ll miss him - likely as we have missed Hopper this year.

Which is odd because Whitt didn't play the slot position the last two years.

I hope Trent gets more opportunities in our final 5 games. I would hate to lose this player because he isn’t seeing the playing field.
Coach Napier is going to be judged on results so he will sail this ship with the crew he feels best with. It’s just hard for me to understand why Whittemore isn’t being utilized more but, I don’t know everything that goes on beyond 3 or 4 hours on Saturday’s.

Methinks Napier's offensive strategy is all about a shifty slot receiver and not a mini-tight end. Whit isn't going to win any foot races on the outside (which I am also sure is in his philosophy).

Make sense. But he sure is good surehanded receiver when you need a first down.

Oh well, prolly too early to tell if we know more than Napier. We'll have to give him more time to assemble the players he needs.

After careful reflection, I think I'd like Napier to source that inner Muschamp occasionally-ya know, get fired up, snag a 15 yard penalty while screaming on the field. Just to make sure he isn't all pie charts, statistics and calm demeanor.o_O:rolleyes:

    Anyway...Georgia coming up.

    Go Gators.:)

Trent was one of our best route runners we had until Pearsall got here, I really hate to see him leave. Richardson is just not a polished passer yet and does not throw to the route until they are open. Maybe a side effect of the pick six. :emoji_confused:

Trent caught 19 passes last year, 4 so far this year. Seems like he got beat out by guys who fit more into the new staff's way of doing things. And if he follows his brother to Mississippi State, he'll be playing for The Pirate, Mike Leach, who likes to throw it around and is one of the most innovative offensive coaches ever. Trent reminded me a lot of guys like Justin Edelman & Cole Beasley, undersized guys who run great routes, have sure hands and aren't afraid to go over the middle.

Whittemore fits Miss St's offense better than ours. He'll have more catches in one game there than in half a season here.

If he goes to Miss St he is going to do work. We probably will regret losing him

I start to lose trust in Napier over this. Trent is one of our best receivers and with all the analysts Napier couldn’t put him on the field?

I think this is a combination of shorter and Henderson improving and Whittemore failing to get any separation when out there.

Wait a minute... it sounds like some people here are confusing the two Whittemore brothers.

There’s two? Or Trent has two brothers? Are we talking brothers or BROOOTHERS?

I don't think so, more so that people are using his brother's decision and his lack of involvement this year as a bellwether for a possible Trent transfer.

That has to be speculation right now, but I also think we need to see Trent and Ricky on the field at the same time.

Well yeah, I don't think anyone is saying it's a done deal or anything.

One thing that is easy to forget is the low number of offensive plays per game. With that being the case, it's harder for everyone to get their touches. That said, I too wonder why he isn't on the field more.
A lot of ball left to be played. Maybe he will find more opportunities.
