Not counting anything until kids are signed but if they land McClain and/or the Alabama kids then that would speak volumes as to how this staff recruits and what they are telling them as the defense continues to flounder on the field.
Nil , nicest dorms,….. those type of things are far more important to kids. A&M pulling the top class proves winning isn’t necessary. All things being equal I’m sure winning is a factor but everyday lifestyle and what’s in the wallet is more important .
Yes and no. I'm on the same page with you about programs buying players but no one wants to go be a doormat and get exposed over and over when they can get a lot of the same benefits along with a winning program. Our facilities and NIL weren't enough to keep Hopper and others around. They chose middling programs and facilities like Utah, Missouri and I think Bogle went to mich state. Point being there are other factors even if we agree a lot of it is money and bennies
Yeah . . . if I'm on my cellphone I sometimes have to try 2-3-4 times to hit the right button. LOL! I think it's a mistake but let the good folks (not the drive-by bacon crowd) know. Thanks Rick!
That’s why I said all things being equal, then winning matters. Everyday lifestyle would be dorms and cash but also the environment. Our team and coach quit last year and tgat had to be a miserable lockeroom . A&M and Miami suck but are still recruiting. South Beach and cash takes some of the sting out of the empty stadium and all the losses. Losing bothers me more than most I guess but many can be paid to lose and it doesn’t bother them. Hopper seemed to be one of few playing hard the end of last year.
i think off the field stuff matters more when it comes to recruiting but once the season starts, wins and losses arent the end all be all because all of these kids understand that the current team that is recruiting them…those players currently on the roster for the most part wont be there once they arrive on campus. I think kids want to see the team show progress and promise more so than wins and losses unless you go out there and just totally embarrass yourself consistently. Every recruited kid situation is different so yea a lot of factors go into it. Will a DL recruit look at our DL performance and say “damn Coach isnt coaching them up right, i dont think he can develop me” or will they say “the DL they got now isn’t good so i know immediate playing time is on the table”?
Winning these types of battles will go a long way. It will make this season worth it. If we are able to land Cormani and the smith and russow combo…we are on one helluva good start to correcting our weekly show
No more stupid than grown adults rubbing fingers together lol It is goofy...but maybe 18 to 20 year olds get a kick out of it.again.I agree it is Goofy too
If I were a recruit, If a team is struggling week in and week out with a coach who had been with the team for 3-4 years and now has all of his own recruits on the roster, that would be a red flag that he may not be able to develop me. But if it's a first year coach who is trying to make due with what he was left, I wouldn't see it as a big factor.
