Are the mph pitch speeds on the scoreboard or from scout guns?

Top of Inning 4, Waldrip still pitching
    Robertson K swinging 86mph
    Evans K swinging
    Riopelle K swinging 88mph
    0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors, 0 LOB
Overheard scouts saying Waldrip began using split finger for first time in 4th inning (very effective!)

Bottom of Inning 4, Sproat still pitching
    Kurland 6-3 on 96mph pitch
Caglianone 1-3 on 88 mph pitch
    Thomas lined to centerfielder
    0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors, 0 LOB
End of Fourth - Blue 1 Orange 1

Waldrip - 3 IP, 3 Hits, 1 Run, 1 ER, 5 K, 0 BB; his release point is almost directly overhead so he gets lot of downward drop on his pitches.
    Sproat - 3 IP, 4 Hits, 1 Run, 1 ER, 3 K, 0 BB

Big thanks for your report bturner. Really sounds like both of our better freshmen pitchers had a rough day. But glad to hear Fisher has put together two nice outings. Shelnut had a really good day at the plate. Was there any infielders that stood out with their defense?

Not many infield opportunities, Rivera had a nice pickup going to his left with a good throw to first; Halter was handcuffed by a slicing liner with backspin that dropped in front of him and bounced to his right, he was able to stop it with his bare hand. Batter was given a hit. Derek Fabian also had a good day at plate with 1 single and 2 doubles before his injury.

Lastres also. I could see either of these two getting some DH opportunities against Lefthanded starters.

The scoreboard MPH appears to be a a tick or two higher than scouts' guns- I asked one of them and Waldrep was in the 94-95 range- scoreboard had him up to 97 on one pitch.

Did I count this right, UF pitchers threw 16 innings with 4 walks and 1 HBP = 5 or 2.81 per 9, on average. Last year we were running over 4.

And most of the damage was true freshmen just getting their feet wet.
