Too much Of a risk of 2000 mules. Imagine a ballot harvestor dropping off ballots for hundreds of neighbors in Lee County who lost their houses and cars and can’t vote. That would be as awful as someone dropping off the ballots of invalids in a nursing home in a blue area. Sarcasm dripping.
Sorry. 2000 ended any sense of “politics as usual.” Because it isn’t “politics and usual.” After Michael, the Dems didn’t challenge the relaxation of laws in the Panhandle. The GOP has established the standard for itself.
It isnt about the City of Sarasota. Talk about dishonest. It's about the county of Sarasota. In particular the southern part which includes Venice and Englewood which were hit pretty hard. Parts of Sarasota County sit further south than parts of Charlotte county do.
You just don't get it. No mention of flood waters inundating your house. Flood waters 3-5 feet deep in a house ruins virtually everything, even if it recedes after a few hours. Same with cars in 3-5 feet of water.
Nothing prevented him from limiting it to only the hard hit areas in Sarasota County. Yet, he didn't do that. Interesting how that is.
Moving the goalposts...Lol. You kept saying the city and then I point out that parts of the county sit further south than parts of Charlotte county and you want him using what marker exactly? This stuff is always based on controllable borders. We even base disaster designations on municipal lines. What should he do? Say everything south of Bee Ridge Rd lol? Nah man. You do this stuff by counties. Keep digging. What part of the state do you live in? I mean the mayaka river flooded to insane levels. Venice and its beaches took a really bad hit. Much of Northern Charlotte and Southern Sarasota are wet, canal filled, and swampy before a storm. Area took a pretty bad hit man.
Not even remotely. I've been quite clear on what marker I want him using. You're the guy who defended his actions based on him picking places that were devastated by the hurricane. You're the one moving the goal posts now. So you're saying that he could have chosen lines that weren't just counties? Could have drawn municipal lines to only pull in the hardest hit areas, right? You just said it can be done by municipal lines. Of course, I'm not the guy trying to justify DeSantis's partisan choices by saying he picked areas that were devastated and then backtracking when it becomes obvious that a large number of people in Sarasota County really weren't hit harder than the people in other counties he omitted. Central Florida. We got hit hard. Fortunately, I was on relatively high ground, so flooding wasn't an issue for my place. A lot of people weren't so fortunate. But they live in a blue area, so DeSantis has no interest in doing right by them.
A little math lesson for according to FEMA reports Lee County had 50,406 structures damaged at a cost of about $5.5 Billion. Orange County had 1,727 structures damaged at a cost of about $206 million. 5.5 billion > 206 million. 50,000 > 1,700.
Can you give me a math lesson here? $102.4 million the property damage estimate from Hurricane Ian just in Sarasota County’s jurisdiction, as of Oct. 6
Such dishonesty. So many red counties in central Florida. And I asked about your location because you seemed oblivious to the geographical location of Venice and Englewood to the eye of the storm. I've been through many of these things. You have your heels dug in . I'm glad your safe and sound. I'll leave ot at that and move on.
No dishonesty. Just inconvenient truths. I also see you have no response to these facts: Hurricane Ian caused $206 million in damage in Orange County $102.4 million the property damage estimate from Hurricane Ian just in Sarasota County’s jurisdiction, as of Oct. 6 There's greater property damage in Orange County than Sarasota County. Continue doing your mental gymnastics to give DeSantis cover for his brazenly partisan move.
