He also could legitimately claim that their real estate related earnings took a hit from him being President, although its not clear. He had long since ceased being an actual developer. For a while he got by with branding but then it was branding combined with money laundering, primarily for Russians but also for any bad actors around the world, including the Iranian Republican Guard.

They would usually try to draw in investors with their name even though they didn't have any actual equity or exposure, taking a big fee upfront for use of their name, and also because money-laundering is so easy in big construction projects. There was a long New Yorker piece on the hotel Ivanka was involved in, in I think Azerbaijan with the Republican Guard, in which the family made a fee off laundering money for the Republican Guard getting around US sanctions. The Russian oligarchs pretty much bought up all of his Florida real estate portfolio for way above market prices and had connections at Deutsche Bank, which had been already cited for money laundering, and which was the only financial institution that would still deal with him, even after they took losses.

And Jared certainly got bailed out of the 666 project by Gulf states investors in exchange for selling influence and actual US policy. The Trump presidency was very good to him financially

Dude, it's being reported on multiple sites, just not on the ones you read.
I think my signature applies to you.

No, but it ought to be against the scruples of those who support him. Or am I assuming a "fact" unsupported by the evidence?

If Trump left that much grift on the table, I'd assume I'd entered an alternate dimension, the one with Honorable Donald.

His chutzpah would be inspirational, if it weren't so darn illegal, self-serving, and tawdry.

I ran into that one time. In 2012 I had tickets to see Santana in Tampa. Got online to find a hotel and the prices defied belief. Even a room at the LaQuinta was $600 and there were none to be had. Full up no vacancy for a hundred miles north and south. Then I read the Republicans had chosen that weekend in Tampa for their convention. The concert and the first day of the convention was canceled by Hurricane Isaac and I stayed home for free. Still want to see Santana before its too late for one of us.

No one should be surprised that he would do this. Trump was/is a piece of garbage but hey that's precisely why that contingent likes him, because they unapologetically embrace and love shitty human beings.

Again and again we see how legitimate behavior when in government is nothing but a handshake agreement amongst honorable or semi-honorable people.

It's just not a system built to deal with the scumbag behavior of a lifelong grifter like Trump.

This is mostly about Trump International Hotel in DC, not Mar A Lago, although I have no doubt he padded the bill there, as well. You know, all you fiscal conservatives that hate, just hate, politicians gorging at the trough that is taxpayer money should be irate at these practices of Trump's.

"In 2019, Eric Trump said the Trump Organization was saving the Secret Service agents — and taxpayers who paid the bill — huge sums.

“If my father travels, they stay at our properties free,” he said. “So everywhere that he goes, if he stays at one of his places, the government actually spends, meaning it saves a fortune because if they were to go to a hotel across the street, they’d be charging them $500 a night, whereas, you know we charge them, like $50.”

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Just like Dad, apparently Eric is incapable of telling the truth.

I didn't attack the story, but did attack CNN's credibility for all things news. They are right up there with the CCP's People's Daily. It looks like some of you here actually watch and read CNN's material. You are part of a very small viewer and readership, because no one has faith in them. Democrats by the 100's of thousands have turned away from their propaganda.

Maybe it's just me but your attack on CNN strongly implied that the story wasn't credible.

It implied that there was a possibility it was not credible due to past false stories.

That hotel has one of the best sushi spots in DC. I hope it survives - the whole complex is still airing out the reek.

why? for the same reason FDOT can pick a flight contractor when neither bid met the bid requirements?
