On defense, you’ve tried everything and nothing works?

I listed to Waters and Miles and they said we’ve tried every defense and one of our defenders misses their assignment and the other team makes a big gain.

Go backwards. Simplify the defense until the players stopped blowing assignments. Make tackling a top priority every day.

I'd start with tackling. No matter how well you run a defense it doesn't matter if the offensive players run through you like a bunch of oiled up pool noodles.

Then simplify it to a middle school level until they run it perfectly. We're already losing games and giving up 50 yard 3rd down plays, can't get much worse.

Play different players. It literally can’t get any worse. Let’s see what Pyburn can do.

It's obvious. You play soft, a type of prevent, keep everything in front and try to limit yardage. Hope one of your guys makes a play or the other team makes a mistake. Try to get better every day and keep teaching as best you can.

It turns out a lot better if your offense can score a lot of points, so as inconsistent as we've been it's nerve wracking.

    Recruit. Recruit. Recruit.

If the complex is too hard, you simplify it.

If the simple is too complex, you start with the most basic of items and don't move on until it's being done well.

    Like already mentioned...Focus on tackling.

But, if there is this level of disconnect between what's being taught and what's being done on the field.....Meh, we've already discussed that. Onward.

Two things come to mind. The first is to put more emphasis on scoring points (ie, playing with more urgency) and winning the TOP. The second is to embrace the "bend-but-don't break" idea and take whatever the opposing team does to self-destruct. So, you want them to kick field goals and not score TDs and eventually have to give up on their game plan in order to catch up. Call it a 60.00-minute game. No exceptions.

And, although this isn't necessarily about winning THIS game, sit any and all vets who just can't overcome their old coaching, but let them come in at the end to "save" a game that can be won with more mature (emotionally) players. I would presume that if that was their position now (after they were anointed Player status before), they would come in PISSED and want to "teach these coaches a lesson". And that is fine by me. Unless of course, the lesson is to watch the runner or receiver to just run by you without even trying.

  11. Put the fun back in fundamentals. Take away the simulated pressures and go back to fundamental football: work on tackling, work on communicating coverage swaps, and minimize penalties.

I think this could be a personnel issue. 51 playing his ass off and others seem indifferent. We need better players.

Replace Trey Dean with Kamari Wilson. 100% swap their snap count. Can’t be any worse

Not much that can be done..... focus on tackling, communication, fundamentals. Bottom line is players are needed. Does anyone have a snap count on defense from the lsu game?

How would we practice man if our team is mainly a run offense and your QBs are not that accurate? How would we know "we've tried everything"?
