in Polk County, FL. Apparently, a neighbor received a package that was addressed to Florida Man (but delivered to his apartment), and proceeded to deliver it to his door. Florida Man and son get alerted by the Ring doorbell, determine that someone is trying to break in, and come out with 0.45-caliber guns at the ready. A woman waiting in her car in the parking lot decides she doesn't want to be near two men with guns, and starts backing her car out of the parking space to leave. Florida Man decides that this is a likely admission of guilt, and the guns start blazing. The woman somehow avoids being shot. Teen, his dad shoot at woman they mistakenly thought tried to break in, Florida cops say No need for gun control here.
Good guys with guns make everything better. If not for their heroics, that woman may have backed into the street without looking both ways!
They belong in jail. But Luckily for me and 75 million other gun owners we wouldn’t respond that way.
These are the type of violent lunatics who like to play security in their neighborhood and end up killing people. But this is the culture and lifestyle some feel comfortable living in, so here we are.
It was the top incident yesterday but one of 6 nationally that made a media report. Also, David Waldman’s hashtag #GunFAIL. Multiple incidents daily. A lot of overlap https://twitter.com/search?src=hashtag_click&q=#GunFAIL Not rare, not unusual. Life in America https://twitter.com/well_regulated_?s=21&t=bHkNaclcmadbE3Rtflyf8Q
For some funny/sad entertainment I recommend looking up idiotswithguns on reddit. There is no fixing this gun fetish.
And although it's usually unsaid, your ilk is of the belief that making it easier for nutcakes and criminals to obtain firearms is a price worth paying to preserve a liberal reading of the Second Amendment under which even a minor inconvenience constitutes an abridgement of the right to keep and bear arms.
Gino Colonacosta, 73, and Rocky Colonacosta, 15, face charges of attempted murder Winter Haven father and son arrested after shooting at woman’s car, deputies say
There are so many incredibly stupid things that happened here. Obviously shooting at someone, but I have a hard time believing they didn’t notice a package hanging on their doorknob. That should have triggered the thought that maybe it wasn’t a robber. Then, they happen to notice a woman in an apartment complex parking lot at 7am. That has to be a fairly normal time in the morning to see someone in their car about to head to work. Did they think she would assume they had good intentions when they have guns and demanding that she get out of the car? They actually called the police on her thinking she would be the one in trouble.
When it comes to guns, there are two choices: almost everyone can have a gun, or almost no one can. You can try and fine tune the details, but stripped down, this is what the issue amounts to for the foreseeable future.
I propose putting them in a dark room with the “you rolled up your window!” Cop and see who comes out. Because either way, America will if only one of them does. I will make the same point I made on the that cop thread though, with 100 million gun owners or whatever the number is, individual idiots like this don’t prove much. Difference here is we have real numbers on gun violence, suicide, armed robbery etc and the effect guns have. And the idea that people think our level of gun violence is acceptable as a price of freedom is just baffling and sad.
My God. A shot went through a baby seat and lodged in the drivers seat. The dad should pay a hefty price and the kid should never legally carry a weapon after his long stint in juvenile detention and/or prison.
