Sundance Liked Her Documentary on Terrorism, Until Muslim Critics Didn’t

I thought this was a pretty compelling story. I was actually compelled enough to contribute to the go fund me page.

Basically about a mostly unknown filmmaker who did a documentary of former gitmo detainees, and by all accounts was highly regarded and very empathetic, but then some pro Islam advocates decided to attack it without even seeing it, and all of the people in the documentary industry starting caving and folding like a house of cards.

I dont have much to comment on this. But I did find this description kind of funny:

The film follows a group of men trained by al-Qaeda who are transferred from Guantanamo and sent to the world’s first rehabilitation center for “terrorists” located in Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia is not the first place I would think of as a place for rehabilitating terrorist's.

it’s not released. Everybody abandoned it because of cancellations threats from detractors.

They were released from Gitmo to countries that would accept them, but only on conditions that they would be monitored, go through some sort of “rehab”, and won’t be tortured or killed. I imagine the countries willing to accept an accused Muslim terrorist is a pretty short list.

My hotel in Saudi Arabia had a bar that was called "Al Rehab". Any kind of fruit juice or tea you could imagine.

Speaking of rehabilitation, a man in Memphis was rehabilitating himself after a conviction for stealing car parts, and he decided to open a catalytic converter business to pay for some debts associated with the court judgment. It didn't end well for him, however. But it is a compelling story.

Man cuts off multiple catalytic converters with power saw to help pay for his warrants, MPD says
