I'm just curious - So BAMA claims that any (One loss) Bama team is an automatic qualifier for the 4 team playoff.

Georgia is making a similar claim.

Now apparantly UT is suggesting that.

I guess Ole Miss will be next................??

If you lose a game against a top-notch team from a top-notch league, you have more credibility than a team who loses against crappy teams.

In other words, the ACC and Pac 12 are screwed.

This is why we root for the SEC as it will help us if we ever get in that position.

So ANY 1 loss SEC team gets in? I'm just curious if the same courtesy that is extended to Alabama applies to everybody in the SEC?

    If they're a one-loss SEC champ, yes, otherwise I don't believe that's true.

In Bama's case, if they finish with one loss they won the SEC so for this year its true. UT and UGA could finish with one loss without winning the SEC, so then things depend on what happens in other leagues.

They didn't get the Saban okay to proceed. Lol. Besides that, they have a clown in control of that team.

But Bama fans are blubbering about the refs... how freaking ironic is that. In a year where they thought the had their best team ever with a Heisman QB... reminds me of our 2009 team a bit. But for that to be true to the script they have to lose to UGA in the SECCG or to Tennessee, and they have to miss the College Football Playoffs. Let their QB cry on national television.

It happened to UGA last year. There are already examples of this

They haven't beaten Ole Miss, yet. Fortunately for Ole Miss, defense is optional in the SEC this year.

There are still nine unbeatens as of today. Eliminating possibilities where a conference rivalry or a conference championship will end some teams hopes, there's still the possibility of 5 unbeatens when the playoff teams are chosen. I don't think a one loss SEC team is going to beat out an unbeaten team from the ACC, Big12, Big10, or PAC12 for a spot. An unbeaten SEC is a lock, but not so much a once beaten SEC team. While the once beaten SEC team could quite well be the second best team in the nation, interest in the playoffs will be much higher on a national level with teams from different parts of the country participating.

Unless there is some weird scheduling quirk (you play Vandy 9 times) I would say yes.

I think that if the Georgia/Tennessee winner is undefeated and then loses to 1-loss Alabama in the SEC title game, then both teams get in and the UT/GA loser gets left out. But if the Georgia/Tennessee loser ends the season with just 1 loss and the other is undefeated, they'll be left in the cold if a 1-loss Bama team beats the no loss team in Atlanta. A 1-loss SEC team that doesn't make the title game could get in, but other things would have to happen, like UGA or UTA giving Alabama a 2nd loss in the SEC title game, the Pac-12 and Big 10 champs having a loss or the ACC or Big 10 champ having a loss - and even then it would be doubtful. The Michigan/Ohio State winner gets in, assuming they are undefeated and possibly even if they have 1 loss. Clemson gets in if they run the table. What will be interesting is if UCLA and TCU both run the table and are out there as 13-0 conference champs. Do they get left out in favor of a 1-loss SEC team? They probably would due to the SOS and rankings of the SEC teams above them. It's a mess with a lot of politics involved, IMO. I'll be glad when they go to the expanded playoffs with 12 teams.

I'm sure the league would find a reason why we wouldn't qualify if we were a one-loss team.
