Watching cowboys. - eagles… the entire crowd just broke into “won’t back down” (ironically, after CJ Gardner-Johnson pick). Not sure if I’m mad at them stealing it or if it is an homage and we started a thing.
I was just about to post this, but saw the thread. I certainly hope it was because there’s a lot of Gator fans in Philly (a notoriously ugly fanbase) who know what is up… but let me see if I can upload the video. Good post!
Found this from 5 years ago…and from the comments, it was their locker room victory song during their super bowl season.
I propose that we keep the tradition of Won't Back Down and Eagles fans keep the tradition of eating horse poop to celebrate.
Don't The Eagles have enough terrible hits that they don't have to steal any from Tom Petty? I mean, we've been cursed by Hotel California, haven't we suffered enough?
The Eagles do not have support from the Tom Petty estate support like we do. I suppose they can play the song as long as they pay the requisite licensing fees.
Unpopular opinion here, while I'm a huge Petty fan, I prefer music that wants you to run through a brick wall of crazy. Wisconsin does the whole 'jump around' thing and it really is an experience. We already have a pretty subdued student section (yells out "nerds/ proceeds to give a stadium full of wedgies) rubbing fake coins, need to bring some crazy to the environment.
Agreed. Anyone can pay the requisite licensing fees, but the Petty estate only supports the University of Florida.
I think that's cool, but they are as in tune as the fans are in The Swamp. How many people can that stadium hold?
More than 1. Bernie Leadon was one of the founders. Don Felder joined later on Bernie's recommendation.
