I am 100% guilty myself. I believe a big portion of the frustration level right now is hope. We’re all hoping for a successful season and with the truth facing us it’s just hard to accept it. Part of that is because we keep hearing from this staff as well as the two previous staffs this statement “It’s Correctable” and then having to watch it not being corrected. We cannot expect the head coach to step up to a podium and say this players sucks and isn’t doing his job or he’s not capable of doing it at this level. If it’s the coaches fault then the head coach has the responsibility of “Correcting” it by putting someone’s job on the line. However if it’s a player issue and you don’t have the depth to replace a guy all you can do at that point is say “It’s Correctable” and that’s where our patience wears thin. We’re a “right now” society we want success and we want it right now. I’m guilty myself for having made statements on Swampgas about players and coaches. I get angry because I want success and I want it immediately and I’m wrong for saying and expecting that mentality. I went behind our players bench last night screaming at them to man up and do something and to get their butts in gear. That’s the humanity side of wanting success and demanding it right now. However once the initial anger subsides and you step back and cool down you must come to the realization that these players are not CBN’s guys, he inherited them from a staff we all came to despise. If we are angry our anger needs to be directed at the administrative level who allowed a coaching staff to get by without doing their jobs. Our anger is misplaced and unwarranted at this staff. Is Toney the answer? It’s going to take time to find that answer, maybe he simply can’t erase what Grantham drilled into these guys heads or it’s possible he’s not all that but one thing you cannot do is start firing a brand new staff. Once that happens your recruits start wondering who’s my coach going to be and how long will he be there. One thing I do know is this I am thankful kirby smart is not our head coach. He has zero class he has no respect for anyone other than himself. He can’t have a conversation without demeaning or cursing people. I have been to Georgia games, my son works at uga. The employees in his department cannot stand kirby smart. Integrity, respect, responsibility, truth and honesty all go a long way in life. None of these attributes are anywhere around the georgia staff. We more than likely may not win another game this year. We may have a losing season but we need to understand success rarely ever comes instantly or overnight, it takes hard work it takes time it takes effort it takes setbacks it takes soul searching it takes an understanding that sticking with principles and sticking with patience and the willingness to accept there are going to be limitations initially but at the same time realizing our growth thru times like these establishes foundations to build upon and once you finally get the foundation right your building of a program has a base that over time will stand. CBN is young, he’s not an SEC successful coach yet but he’s in his what 7th game with pieces he didn’t procure. I’m trying my best to picture it this way, he’s sailing a ship with sails that are ripped and torn, he doesn’t have new material to make new sails add to that his thread is dry rotted and doesn’t have the strength to hold the pieces he’s trying to sew into the sail to maintain the strength of the wind. At least he’s got the sewing machine out, he’s threading the needle and he’s got the boat afloat and it’s headed in a direction. New material is coming the thread is also on the way. Maintain a course, steady the helm and hold fast your course and give the captain the chance to get his crew in place. Hold on Hold on The winds and rain are here and if we can weather the storm the sun will shine again. Like I said I am guilty the same as all of us. I seven made the comment that I won’t shell out money for another ticket but boy was that a stupid thing to say. I went to the game with my nephew and his wife and their 3 boys. We had a great time I’m so hoarse today my voice is shot. We had a grand time we laughed we talked we screamed we yelled and we gave every ounce of excitement we had. Was it enough?? Who knows but we gave it everything we had, let’s give our coaches time to give it everything they have. Go Gators One thing they can’t control though is the the appearance of the area surrounding the stadium. It sure could use some cleaning up, some painting and some roadwork and grass planted. Can you hear me UF and mayor of Gainesville? My last comment I’d rather be a Gator than anything associated with uga. I simply cannot fathom being a bulldog fan.
I do hope you got a lot of your energies out by your post. If you are less "wordy" and more succinct, I would merely say that we all are damn tired of being stuck in the mud since the second to last season of Meyer. And it is showing in spades. Patience is basically non-existent.
Wow! What a great and inspiring post! Thanks @gatornation1173! All Gators are feeling the frustration but I would love it if they found the perspective you have!
The bottom line is this. With this eam and last years staff, we are likely in the same spot as we ae right now. Defense overall is worse. Offense is slightly worse. There are some things that are better. Tackling, blocking, want to, recruiting, but that hasn't transitioned to better performance on the field. So we fired last eas guys, hired new guys, and still stink. That should be succinct enough.
BN did say to the fans early on that we must be patient. Maybe he saw the talent level he and the other coaches have to deal with. its hard but I’m going to do my best to be patient. I will always love the Gators. If his recruiting wasn’t any good it would be a different story.
My patience is gone. I couldn't honestly care less anymore. I'll find much better things to do with my Saturdays til the last guys players are gone. I am just over donating thousands annually to a program that has under performed since 2010. Sure my donations won't change anything but at least I am done helping finance the mess our program has turned into.
I would add that the SEC East is the best it’s been in quite a long time. We fired the last coach because there were holes in talent all throughout the roster and now we want the new coaches to win the east with the other coaches players and their brand new systems. Not sold on the offense or defense yet but he doesn’t have his players yet. Needs 3 years but we do need to see improvement regardless. We are a more disciplined team and the offense is hit and miss which is what you expect with a new system. The defense is where I’m worried most. Through 7 games we haven’t seen any real progress. That is very concerning regardless of the players. This could be a problem with the scheme and play calling.
Lol the only thing wrong with Kirby Smart are colors he throws on and you know it. outside of that...sure, patience. All we can do is let things play out. But fans are going to vent. Accept it and move on. Not sure why some of you are so bothered by it.
Tired of backing down Give a damn’s busted On the Highway to hell Cold as ice we need the boys to be back in town The bitch is back Godzilla Put a boot up they’re arse Go Gators
Yeah, because no one has the time to read the Reader's Digest version anymore. And if you don't know what that means, well... GET OFF MY LAWN!!!
I'm probably older than you are. So I get it. Sorry I posted that. I am apparently the worst Gator ever. I will have my tattoo removed as punishment. I will get off your lawn now.
