Okay, so I've read many of the threads and responses post LSU. I would offer a few comments for GC consideration. First - Fan Reaction: As per the typical responses after a loss, most comments are negative, (with the advantage of hind sight of course). The usual should have done this, should have done that. Then of course the armchair coaching, with emphasis on this player or players or unit and / coach or scheme-(insert whatever insult is the insulters particular flavor). This of course is quickly followed up with: "Look how much these coaches are getting payed or how much these players are getting pampered (or payed now with NIL". This of course is the normal and typical reaction one now expects of any SEC fan base, especially those that consider the team, upper tier or one of the "better ones". Ok - nothing new here so far, just typical behavior and responses from the instant gratification crowd and self anointed. Now let's get to the point: Your Billy Napier and you "Got what you Got" playing the hand your dealt. Do you walk in the locker room, start spitting and pointing fingers and say to players: You suck, and you suck and you suck and you suck. And do you line up your assistant coaches and say: YOU - Your fired. You, your demoted, You, your fired too...... If your Napier do you go to the after game press conference and spit this one is to blame and that one? OR, ......... OR - DO YOU DO THE BEST WITH WHAT YOU HAVE and treat your assistant coaches, players and staff with dignity and respect, win, lose or draw - and build toward a better future? Now I ask the peanut gallery - Ya'll have all the answers, lay it on me .........
Got to play it out now. Maybe in the offseason you make some coaching changes. I'll say this, if we really are dead last in the country in 3rd down defense, that's coaching, not talent.
I know I made a bad decision went I opened up GatorCountry! I knew it would be a train wreck but did it anyway. The usual over reactions and negativity in superlatives, wanting everyone fired again! It's getting really old, we knew this would be a journey, but so many are little children on here asking "are we there yet" when we just turned out of our neighborhood!
At this point hang in with class. Better come up with better schemes And get more out of players on D . You can only go so far with “process” without improving results or you will not be around to build the process
Look guys, this means so much because so little is at stake. I think it's silly to argue about how much a person cares and how they express if they're not personally attacking other posters or coaches.
I would suggest you remove your post or else... I am going to hold my breath. And THEN you will be sorry!
Toney's seat is scorching hot IMO, but I support giving them the entire season to figure stuff out. But I do wonder what the 10,000 staffers are doing for us. Perhaps it takes a few recruiting cycles before you reap benefits from having a vastly enlarged staff?
Well that is the question, from my seat, that's what I am hoping for. Dabo anyone? Or in our own house - Charlie Pell. I was a student in 79 (0-10-1).
If I may opine, until further notice, Napier is NOT Dumbo. He has a system and the defense is likely playing what he is asking them to do. If he isn't then Toney won't last past the end of the regular season.
No mid season staff changes. Scheme now, tweaks should have been done already. Off season is the time for staff absent announcing a big name hire or two as “analysts “
