Gonna be a long haul. Wonder if Napier can withstand the pressure.

You must not be watching the DL that I see getting handled easily week in and week out. Even against USF...smdh :(

We have a lot more things to worry about UF football than a whiny, walk-on WR that can't get on the field. I don't care who his grandpappy is.

    Gator in Tennessee
    The observations of it all:

    • Everyone in football wants immediate results. Gator fans obviously want better results than last season's tailspin. Right now the results are terrible, hence the frustration.
    • Billy doesn't run a flashy offense. Football today has to be borderline video game numbers to get the job done (look at TN's stat lines). Billy, does not subscribe to this at all. Going back and watching some Louisiana games, Napier prefers to use 2-4 tailbacks in a nonsensical rotation, tons of WR screens, blocking TEs, score 24-30 points.....and then does the worst thing in the word by playing not to lose. Napier wants to sit on the lead like a chicken on an egg.
    • Gator offense is highly frustrating. AR comes out to throw a 51 yarder to score, then goes silent. Fourth quarter hits and he pulls off an 81 yard QB run like's it's nothing. Then as predicted, he does absolute nothing the next two possessions.
    • Defensively, we don't seem to know the whole story. Positions are thin, the lineups off WR bank on 10 yards or more (even McElroy drew that blank spot on the slant last night which LSU of course used while Billy looked baffled).
    • Gators do rank #131 out of #131 in third down defense.
    • Recruiting right now looks promising. But honestly, I can't see a ton of four star kids getting into this dry, slow offense Billy runs and expect to produce results that will draw NFL attention which is something they ultimately want. If I'm a WR recruit, why go to UF where nobody can make the throw and instead look at UT where you can get 150yds and a couple of TDs a game.
    • Billy might be Zook 2.0. A fantastic recruiter, personable, but runs a terribly, slow offense that ultimately gets him fired in favor of a "vidya game" numbers, OC minded coach.

My opinion: That's a false dichotomy and just an excuse for most.

The Game Threads turn toxic almost from the start . . . as soon as there's an opponent first down. They get worse from there.

This started in the first half of the Utah game! Let that sink in.

Things turned toxic in recruiting in JUNE when Florida didn't get a commitment from Rashada.

Then, just like last week, just like July in recruiting, when things look up even a little, all those negative posters simply disappear. They don't post happy thoughts as "long-suffering fans." . . . and things get cricket quiet while the rest of us enjoy a game or, Heaven forbid a week . . . only to return when there's something to moan and gripe about.

However, we all have to read all the negativity and toxicity. Like going to a nice restaurant years ago and having some jerk sitting at the next table puffing his cigarette smoke in our direction all the time. Non-stop. Naturally the cigarette jerk sees nothing at all wrong with the behavior. Just because you find a group of cigarette jerks to band together does that make it different?

Guess which team hasn't out recruited us: UT, a team we handled easily in 2021. I'm not saying that our recruiting was stellar, it absolutely wasn't, but coaching matters....a lot.

No doubt...these coaches appear to be terrified of getting beat over the top that they are leaving gaps in the secondary a granma could throw to.

Yes..shame is the length of time these coaches have had with a group of players to try and turn the culture around..no contact after spring game he was trying to salvage recruiting before that..so really how long have the current coaches worked with the players..to get them developed properly, and coach bad habits out of them...not even a full year here yet..and out say 10 months..how long have they been actually able to teach and game train these kids?

Billy waited for a job like UF. He knows what is expected. He knows money is not an issue if he has to shell out $2-3 million a year for a top not h OC.
He also knows the pressure cooker that being HC at UF is. It made Urban ill. It drove McElwain to fabricate lies, and it led to Mullen just being “done.” The job comes with amazing support, perks, financial compensation, and the most fertile recruiting grounds in the country. As a UF HC, you will face zero disadvantages. But it is one hell of a pressure cooker.

Yep, that was scared coaching if I've ever seen it. SOS would have tried to get points there... Meyer too. He mentioned that LSU had timeouts too. Lol, like that's supposed to be a deterrent for scoring more points? That's playing scared.

Key fact - Jimbo is in year 4 or 5 of his tenure.

    CBN is in year 1.

    Gigantic difference.

Well Kelly did have the upper hand when it came to total talent on the field. If we switch coaches, the results would of been the same.

I partially agree with that. But we almost always have 1-2 players who end up covering no one on pass plays, and it results in the defense playing 9 on 11. I have seen replays of Dean covering a specific area of the field without any attempt to cover any receiver.

So if the scheme results in Miller trying to cover a WR, then that is a breakdown of the scheme. Those deep safeties aren’t covering anyone, so the defense is already playing with one hand behind its back. So maybe walk up one of those safeties to cover the WR and blitz Miller instead. Especially when you can’t generate pressure with only 4 rushers.

Yeah. Exactly. That's more aggressive play calling I could live with getting burned on occasionally.
