Billy is not an X's and O's type of wunderkind who is going to turn a program around quickly, he is a culture guy. It will take some time and we need patience. Let him do it however he wants to do it with no training wheels imo. BN is a respectful, professional, person and I think he deserves to build it his way. He is not going to embarrass the university like Mullen or Mac with some idiotic antics or made up story.
Same soft zone scheme, with similar results. This isn’t 10-15 years ago as current QBs come in ready to execute against zone defenses. If you can’t pressure the QB while playing soft zone, the opposing QB will destroy that defense. And we have certain defenders who have issues executing the current scheme as it is being called by the coaching staff. LSU didn’t let our offense dictate to them, but they dictated to our offense by bringing pressure and forcing the ball out quickly. We drop seven and unless one of the four rushers whips his blockers, the opposing qb has plenty of time to wait for a WR to reach one of the openings in our zone defense. Our defense almost never seems to try to dictate to the opposing offense, but is always sitting back and reacting, which hasn’t seemed to work out well at any time this season.
One comment here, as we make more and more rules to ‘protect the players’, it gets harder and harder to play good defense. This is a big reason why so many of these games have turned into scoring affairs. Case in point is the penalty on dexter last night. I don’t like what all these rules have done to the game in general.
Only saw Miller during the spring game. He didn't look too good. Kitna made the reads and moved the ball against EW!
Say what you will about Jimbo, he has a good offensive mind. If we play the same defensive scheme we did against LSU, I am afraid it will be picked apart by TAM just as easily as it was by LSU.
Yes. I believe some more aggressive plays should be called on defense. However, if your front can't pressure the QB . . . and folks seem to forget how thin Florida is there and how out-of-position some are playing (called "tweeners") anyone good enough to start in D1 and especially the SEC can find open receivers. When one of the DL guys get some pressure they other team is just dumping it off to a TE or RB who our LBs are trying to cover. So it circles back around to playing with the players you have.
Thir down defense rankings: UF is dead last at 131 of 131 Under no circumstance should UF football rank dead last in any category, when schools like Coastal Carolina are on the list. Done with Toney.
Uh..a half time scrimish with Missouri on the field, comments after A and M ( boy did the news blow that up) Darth Varder costume to name a few
Based off his Facebook post. Seems like they wouldn't allow him on the sidelines and he felt disrespected, I don't blame him.
None of that is embarrassing. You’re comparing making up death threats to Mullen saying the stadium should be packed when A&Ms was? Or wearing a darth Vader costume on Halloween? Yeah ok bud
How about almost coming to blows at half time ? And I never said I wasn't embarrassed by macelwain and his stuff..I was and his "ain't cool" and making P and J sandwiches..
I should have said this last night. Neither you nor most anyone on Gator Country knows what happened. You've heard one side. Maybe an emotional one side at that.
Also..whether you were embarrassed or not about his A and M comments..the press and the general public made a huge deal out of it
