His explanation for the halftime clock management makes no sense. If you don't trust your defense to stop the other team, all the more reason you can't give away offensive possessions. You absolutely have to try and put points on the board to keep up, especially knowing the other team gets the ball to start the second half. Probably the most maddening thing I have watched since the Muschamp era.
Best post out of the lot of them. I find it remarkable anyone thought this team would be anything other than inconsistent at best. I had high hopes before the season as well but i knew and said it would all come down to the defense and clearly the talent level is lacking there. I am disappointed we will not reach 10 wins but I am also realistic enough knowing what this team had to overcome that 6 wins was a real possibility. I am not about to bash the coaches or any of the players because going into this I recognized the huge uphill climb ahead of us for this season. It sure would be nice if other 'fans' recognized these things too.
Welcome to life. There is no entitlement by whining, wanting and over-valuation of greatness by desire. I had other things to do so I missed the game and had a great evening. Give it a try.
In that case results seem to indicate that the “people” pressing him for it were correct… but to Spurrier’s credit he did eventually incorporate it in his offense… some would say one game too late, but I would counter we did win a national championship that year.
And this maybe what Napier does as well..growing pains..even Meyer was criticized in 2005..he finally adjusted..however Meyer inherited a better roster too..thanks to Zook's recruiting..
CBN isn’t going to call out players. That’s not his style and not what he’s selling to recruits and their families. He’s building a family atmosphere and he’s going to protect his players. He’s the ultimate player’s coach without the need to fight frat boys. I don’t see the coach speak that you guys are talking about. He’s not dancing around the questions and he takes full responsibility for the loss.
For me it's not just that we are loosing it's the way we are loosing. I have a hard time putting it into words but it's as if we have a bunch of random players playing at the same time but not part of a cohesive plan. We ocassionaly score on offense but we don't have an offensive "flow". We occasionally have big plays but we don't really have consistent output. It's like we are zombies sleep walking through a process that is hard to define. Win or loose I find our games not very entertaining to watch. We loose rather than get beaten. I have hope for next year but I am also concerned by the lack of progress we have made to this point in the year. I can't point to any area and say yes we are loosing but we are making progress and at least we are heading in the right direction. Rant over.
And all the NFL Heisman talk for AR also contributed..remember how everyone wanted Emory benched for AR. Now some of these same people want AR benched for Kitna..amazing lol
It is frustrating and difficult at times watching this team. It sucks watching how Tennessee has really turned things around. I hated losing to that former Notre Dame coach. However, I'm not going to bash or tear down our first year coach half way into the season. He deserves more patience from fans than that. I don't know if he is going to lead us back to the promised land or not. Time will tell. But he sure has been working his tail off to fix this program from the ground up. I didn't realize how internally broken this program was. For now, I'm trying to focus on the positive things he's done for this program so far. I mean he's pulling from IMG Academy now and we are getting looks from elite level recruits that wouldn't give us the time of day recently. He's modernizing the program with support staff, training, and nutrition. He appears to be doing all of that while having integrity and running a clean program. So for now, I will stomach the ugliness and stay hopeful that the future will look better. Some will say that makes me a BN Homer. So be it! But I'm patient enough to give the man 3 full seasons, at least, to be fair.
Can you help us out? Could you be the one that starts a happy- go-lucky thread on this game or... on anything related to the Gators' football team? Show us the way... bring some much needed positivity to this forum.
2 minute offense before halftime and at end of game were both awful. You would expect 3 points and field goal before halftime with that much time snd timeouts available
We had all 3 time-outs and 2 full minutes to score, and instead of trying to score he bled the clock out and we got zero points. That is not pragmatic, that is playing scared.
And that's often when the first down market is 5 yards from the LOS. But not unrealistic or unfair to hope that by this point in the season you can see the staff manage their business well and or able to say you can see they are turning it around. The clock management, the apparent unwillingness to try and score, THE SLANT, the DBs imho not being put in position to win match ups. Yes, he's going to need to reevaluate some aspects of the program, no doubt. Is it that they do not trust the team to run the plays or the staff is too green to have a two minute offense? The staff has been hesitant to try and score and it looks like they are playing scared. I don't believe they know how to conduct or are not ready to conduct a two minute offense. The "c'mon man" and "disagree bacon" posters are welcome to show me staff's U of L film however.
