I really wish the previous staffs had never instituted the "$ Down" tradition. Even though our new coaching staff has done away with it, the students still do the little finger-slide thing on every third down. I wouldn't mind it so much if our defense actually made stops on third down. Anyone else annoyed by this? Will it ever die?
I agree we should get rid of anything that could be fun or engaging until we win and deserve to do it. Are we really complaining about something the student section does when they are trying to stay engaged and affect the game. After the last 3 years you should probably just be happy they are there.
Unless you’re Alabama, most players on a roster have no pro future. Dumb concept. Gets them thinking too much about a future they’re unlikely to have.
If it worked? You would be extolling it's cool-ness... I find it interesting that someone would find a need to deride this fan-fun expression so negatively with it's own thread.
Not just the students-grown adults do it-I hate it looks stupid..hated it back when it started and I am going to see if I can talk to the AD or someone to get rid of that and start a new thing-this one tall thin guy several rows down from my seats last week-the minute that announcer says an exaggerated "3rd down" he and others would stand up rubbing their fingers together.. it didn't help the defense then-didn't help the defense this year-get rid of it please
Hey-maybe they are paying more attention to the finger rubbing than the play on the field-maybe it distracts them lol
Might I suggest we start a new tradition of stopping the other team by forcing punts and turnovers on downs more than the number of third downs we fail to stop. Followed by an immediate loud and thunderous applause for the defense. We seem to be lacking in both of these ideals.
