. . . and if it was a simple as you make it sound, you'd be a DC is a Division I program. Others are saying the talent dictates what the scheme can be.
1. I like BN but horrible time management, shaking head, 3 timeouts. 2. No excuse to have this bad a D period. I'm afraid we have a DM TG kind of friendship for I don't see Toney going anywhere. Frankly, I've never ever seen a worse UF D and I've been watching UF for over 60 years. BN keeps saying its correctable, or we miss an assignment here or there as if it's minor stuff. It isn't, it keeps happening week after week after week. Its more than just personnel when you're this horrendous. 3. AR isn't the answer, if you cannot pass consistently in this league, you're at best a middle of the road program. I'm afraid we have another Franks situation, yes AR has all these intangibles yada yada yada. His best asset is running and teams are loading up knowing the guy is inconsistent. 4. About the best thing BN has going for him at this point is recruiting. However Zook was a good recruiter. 5. There is no question that UGA and now UT are rising to the top, I simply don't see us getting a whole lot better. Yes, we have great recruits coming but they will be green next year. I just don't see this style of D getting it done, not this year and not even next with this style of D. This game will soon get out of hand due to the D not stopping a blessed thing and our O being inconsistent.
As always, we are not ENTITLED to win. We have to earn them. It is a perfect storm of new coaches and several inexperienced players. A third factor seldom brought up is that the other team ALSO wants to win. LSU's defense and Florida's offense are similar in quality. LSU's offense is far better than Florida's defense. One needs only to look at the numbers to see this. Our defense is the worst I've seen since following the Gators for decades. It's not Grantham's fault; the new staff has been here long enough to fix the issues. Grantham is nothing more than a pressure release valve. This problem is going to take time to fix, and it begins with recruiting and strong coaching. If Toney is the one, then he needs to do that coordination thang, get great position coaches, and CBN needs to recruit his buttocks off to get quality defenders, something we haven't seen in large quantity since Muschamp. And as Die said, perhaps CBN needs to consider hiring an OC, and build our offense around our players' strengths...
With our top 10 recruiting class, we won’t be in situations that require clock management, so there’s really nothing to be concerned about. Or something.
We need to score every time we have the ball. A couple of defensive stops and this is a different game.
Trouble is they burned a ton of time well before they knew it would be fourth down…. Set themselves up for a crappy choice.
Our statistical rankings would say we are pretty terrible, especially on D. We just need to be less terrible than the other team.
What makes it worse is the massive recruiting weekend we set up. All those guys in the stands watched that last 2:27 play out. Still another half to go to redeem and take control, but it's an uphill climb with our D.
I don't even know where to start . . . UcheaT was an ankle grab away from LOSING to us. Everybody should walk away from the ledge. The score is 28-21.
