they got two bidders, neither was responsive to the details in the RFP, and then FDOT chose and paid the chosen one in advance in full. I've been working around FDOT projects for 20+ years and this is so far out of the protocols for FDOT that it is incomprehensible that it happened like this. This should blow up in the courts if it gets pursued, no idea what the remedy is other than to fire the people that approved it for payment

Not surprisingly, it appears Trey has never seen people working on a commercial shrimping or fishing boat. Or pretty much any coastal blue collar trade at work.

Be a sight to see the painter from Ny call my concrete crew a bunch of ladies.

The Governor appears to have misled (lied) about the most recent redistricting map in FL. Even Republican legislators warned that what he did violated state law.

How DeSantis Remade Florida's Congressional Districts — ProPublica

DeSantis' office has publicly stressed that partisan considerations played no role and that partisan operatives were not involved in the new map.

A ProPublica examination of how that map was drawn — and who helped decide its new boundaries — reveals a much different origin story. The new details show that the governor’s office appears to have misled the public and the state legislature and may also have violated Florida law.

DeSantis aides worked behind the scenes with an attorney who serves as the national GOP’s top redistricting lawyer and other consultants tied to the national party apparatus, according to records and interviews.

A meeting invite obtained by ProPublica shows that on Jan. 5, top DeSantis aides had a “Florida Redistricting Kick-off Call” with out-of-state operatives. Those outsiders had also been working with states across the country to help the Republican Party create a favorable election map. In the days after the call, the key GOP law firm working for DeSantis logged dozens of hours on the effort, invoices show. The firm has since billed the state more than $450,000 for its work on redistricting.

Sorry even the media bias rating sites that usually lean left themselves rate ProPublica as left leaning and somewhat unreliable.

Who has them listed as somewhat unreliable?

The media bias chart that often gets posted here by adfontesmedia, has them in the green box for being most reliable.

ProPublica Bias and Reliability | Ad Fontes Media

    Reliability: 46.91

    Bias: -6.70

They are about as reliable and biased as the Wall Street Journal.

    Media bias : Propublica
    LEFT-CENTER BIAS

These media sources have a slight to moderate liberal bias. They often publish factual information that utilizes loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by using appeal to emotion or stereotypes) to favor liberal causes. These sources are generally trustworthy for information but may require further investigation. See all Left-Center sources.

    • Overall, we rate ProPublica Left-Center biased based on story selection that favors the left and factually High due to proper sourcing and evidence-based reporting.

States highly factual. Where is your unreliable take?

The very idea of reporting facts makes them left-leaning?

This is from AllSides.....Doesn't sound like they are exactly fair in their reporting to me.
An April 2020 AllSides independent review found that ProPublica's bias is Lean Left. ProPublica's "Zero Tolerance" section on President Trump's immigration policy included mostly pieces about children being separated from their families at the border, with no right-wing perspectives on the policy to be found.

ProPublica's Politics section includes mostly pieces critical of or investigating right-wing leaders, and few pieces on left-wing politicians. Examples of top pieces include:

I didn't read through all of the posts, but I have a question and a statement

Why isn't E-verify enforced? I mean if the businesses don't hire them, they have no reason to come here illegally.

I saw on the local news that a lot of the migrants desantis sent to Martha's Vineyard actually came down to help with clean up in Ft Myers after Ian. Ironic...huh?

No one takes issue with saying they lean left, because they lean left. The issue is that you have claimed they are somewhat unreliable, when they are in fact very reliable. The link you provided here doesnt say anything about them being unreliable. I consider them to be similar to NPR, you can trust what they are saying is true, but you also need to recognize that they chose which stories to cover with a liberal bias.

Please point out a dem governor who routinely overruns the legislative branch only to repeatedly lose in the courts. DeSantis is just like DT in that he bullies his way thru issues with no regard for the law, climbs up on the pulpit to throw the red meat to the far right, and then disappears when the facts prove him wrong and/or the courts overrule him. There is a clear pattern of him doing this from Disney to election police to immigrant flights to redistricting. Are you okay with the executive branch assuming unilateral authority and repeatedly ignoring the law costing untold millions trying to defend what he surely knew was illegal to begin with just to secure votes?

What DeSantis understands is the Florida Supreme Court is controlled by Republican politicians. It doesn't matter what the Fair District Amendments say. The majority of the "court" aren't going to enforce them.

The reality we're living in is you can no longer rely on the courts to even attempt to be impartial. They're a bunch of politicians and will act like politicians. They don't care that DeSantis's racist and partisan gerrymander violates the Florida Constitution and federal law. They only care about using their power to advance the objectives of the Republican Party.

Almost as if we no longer have checks and balances - just one party rule with that party also interpreting the law.

Correct. The federal courts aren't there yet, but they're unfortunately trending that direction. The state appellate courts in Florida are there.
