Thought Barber looked solid subbing for Tarquin Saturday and that'll help down the line. Hell Tarquin has been solid through 2 games himself and rebounding from last year when I thought he and Braun regressed.
IMHO. I don't think the OL is the problem. How many times you are going to run it up the middle with 2nd string center before you realize that play doesn't work? Or how about the swing pass to the sideline?
Can't watch this last game again, but the OL played outstanding against Utah. (Even though Diabate was a liability for them) Against UK it really seemed they stacked the box daring AR to beat them through the air, and he just couldn't. Plus we lost Tarquin in the 1st half. OL did not seem to be the problem, we just were less than one-dimensional, meaning the running play options/checks seemed wrong, AR didn't run, and Nayquan had equal carries while not being our best option. And we still had 4.5ypc vs 1.8 for them.
We should be able to sell that OL has been the most improved unit. They got more attention and individual training with two coaches.
We have a spot in next year’s rotation for a great OT. Hopefully OL success this year and quality OL coaches will help here, as we missed on some in 2023. 2024 has to be our year to attract top OL.
DO NOT miss on this young man! Supposedly, there is no such thing. However, seems we are a case study of what happens over a few cycles when a school of prominence misses frequently on can't-miss-kids that we "didn't really want anyway".
We offered him about a year ago but I'm not sure the new staff had much interest. He is moving (don't know where) and wants to play closer to home.
