Red vs Blue led states

So this guy wanted to break down murders to claim red states are worse than blue states with a 40% higher rate. This is such a misguided statement. He should be looking at where the murders happen. How much you want to bet that less than 5% of the mayors where murders happen at high rates are pubs? Quick look through the 65 worst cities and I have Jacksonville FL as the only pub. I did not research all of them and some are from dem run states. I would not be surprised if that is the only city in the top 65 with a pub mayor.

As others have pointed out, if liberals are the reason that murder rates are so high in red states, shouldn't the murder rates be higher in the blue states where liberals are the majority?

 

Stats can blow your mind. We can find the answers we want typically. I don’t know if this guy is right or not. But I do know the vast majority of cities where homicide is a problem…have dems running them. I would wager well over 90% (probably close to 98% if I were guessing). And that is crazy!

Of course. Can you point to any wealthy countries that have little or no functioning government? That's not to say too much government doesn't stifle wealth. But your simplistic attempt to claim government does not create wealth is clearly wrong. You figure public education in the US has decreased our wealth?

 

I would probably say not directly since governments are not profit-driven. However, I think government does indirectly create wealth by increasing productivity. I think the most obvious examples are through spending/investments for infrastructure, education, and research.

 

OK, i get it. You asked if government creates wealth. He said it does.

But it is simple. Government cannot create wealth. Best it can do is take from biz and individuals.
Some people have an irrational belief that govt is so good that they want more of it. Lol.

That is nonsense. "Wealth" as a concept involves the capturing of consumer value from a transaction in order to obtain the capabilities of purchasing other products or services with what you captured. Governments can certainly do that if they please, as can just about any other entity. Governments provide a whole set of services with associated customer value (e.g., protection from foreign invaders, dispute resolution systems through the courts, provision of education services, etc.).

 

Absolutely the government creates wealth. That doesn’t mean all government spending creates net wealth, but some of it does. Investments in defense and infrastructure, research and development have facilitated wealth creation.

 

Are you saying a government manages wealth of others, but it doesn’t specifically create the wealth?
That would make more sense.
