Some guys are great athletes that you can see that they are football players and know how to translate that athleticism to the game of football. Thornton is one of those. I think Gates also looks like that.

Interesting that OSU isn't an option, but definitely a good safety, instinctive, hard hitter and good tackler, just not a big guy.

When I was a kid the cheerleaders used to drag a small one around the field. In 1969 Houston brought their cougar and pulled him around in a Radio Flyer wagon. Do any of you remember when they kept a live alligator in a pen by the Century Tower? I believe that is where it was.

Yes! And if memory serves me correctly, Dick Skelly, Bob Hoover and a player named Cash were involved in a prank that went bad in the early 60’s involving that Gator.
I don’t recall much about the incident but I remember there was a hatchet involved although our guys weren’t out to kill or maim the Gator. I was in high school at the time and only read about the incident. Bob Hoover was the most notable player in the trio.

 

Anyone remember the big "faux" Gator that Gator Cheerleaders would bring out? I THINK it was on wheels. I Haven't seen that sucker in a LONG time.
