This your public education libs, embrace the failure. With teachers like this how can these kids not ace everything.
In case anyone wants to read instead of watching a YouTube video. ACT test scores drop to lowest in 30 years in pandemic slide Private school kids take the ACT / SAT as well…
Just curious if you had the breakdown on the difference between private and public. I agree with your point. Actually think private is really hard to judge as you will have some schools that are outliers for the doing well side and some private schools that are outliers for the doing terrible side. While I do think that all the people pushing lockdowns and keeping kids out of schools should never be allowed to hold public office again as it is a major part of this...your article also provides some insight that there may just not be as much of a commitment to scoring on the standardized tests like there had been. Regardless. Thanks for the link!
I’m afraid it’s only going to get worse with the teacher shortages. Schools are putting under and even unqualified people into classrooms to teach.
The biggest issue is we ask our schools to be Day care, provide at least 2 and sometimes 3 meals, Provide before school and after school activities Be a Moral compass, Handle emotional issues the kids deal with, Handle sexual issues, Handle abuse cases, Basically the school as been made to the take the place of a parent. Parents are working two and three jobs to support kids they cannot afford. Some parents just don’t want their kids around and leave it to the school to deal with. And what hell breaks loose when a teacher makes a mistake or handles something in a way a parent doesn’t like… it is an impossible job that is underpaid, under appreciated, and undervalued.
I may be wrong but I believe there are currently higher percentages of non-public school kids now than before. If you include not just private school but also home schooling and Charter schools.
Standardized test scores were not a requirement for admission in a large number of state and private colleges/universities over the past two admission cycles mainly because the tests were not available. I know my son got scholarship offers for academics across 4 states without ever having to submit a standardized test score. He certainly did not prepare for a test that was never a requirement for admission.
