Compare my use of a derogatory term, for Muslim peoples, with American wars killing millions of them.

For those that believe Russian missiles are nothing more than scuds being randomly fired at Ukrainian populated areas this bit of news may change that perception. If there is any doubt about Russia's intentions there should be no doubt Russia intends to freeze Ukraine and Europe this winter. If this strategy holds firm things are going to get really rough on a global scale. In the grander scheme of things this is Russia's way of inflicting pain on NATO nations and allies for supporting Ukraine with money, arms and intelligence support.

Ukraine's energy minister confirms 30% of the their energy infrastructure has been hit. If this keeps up things are going south for Ukraine real quick. Europe is certainly feeling the pinch of the energy crisis in their own nations. How much more support they are willing to give Ukraine when faced with their own energy shortages remains to be determine.

Russian Missiles Hit 30% of Ukraine's Energy Infrastructure in Two Days - Minister
Russia hit about 30% of Ukraine's energy infrastructure in its missile attacks on Monday and Tuesday, Ukraine's Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko told CNN in an interview.

"We send this message to our partners: we need to protect the sky," Halushchenko told CNN late on Tuesday, adding that Russia was disregarding international rules.

Without going back 562 pages are there people in here actually supporting the Russian invasion? If so, let me know who they are so I can block them.

And it's still part of Russia's strategy of targeting Ukrainian civilians albeit indirectly. Russia is targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure for the primary purpose of inflicting as much pain as possible on the Ukrainian civilian population during the upcoming winter.

Yes that's true and these are the consequences of war no matter how abhorrent we perceive it. As far as Russia's strategy goes it extends far beyond Ukrainian citizens.

Seems the Ukraine will welcome NATO's longer ranged arms with justified anticipation then.

Of course they will and the war will continue down it's path until a clear victor and a concession is arrived at. The escalation will continue and the globe will suffer for it.

Totally agree with what @carpeveritas is pointing out here. Every time you see a new "rah rah" piece posted about more weapons being sent to Ukraine, just remember, it will lead to more suffering. While I don't necessarily disagree with the reporting or the arming of Ukraine, my pet peeve is that these media stories never touch on the severe consequences that will likely result in the arms shipments. It's amazing, the new neo-con class unfolding before us.

Support Ukraine: yes. Neglect the dire consequences of sending weapons in: irresponsible. Assuming Russian defeat: disastrous.

On the other hand, not equipping Ukraine's army to fight the invaders also results in suffering. I have no problem in supporting a country defending their territorial integrity against an obvious aggressor.

    Exactly.

Similar to the pandemic there is no “consequence free” option. There is, however, a very clear right vs. wrong option.

Advanced Air defense is also a life saving option as it intercepts incoming missiles. If Russia keeps escalating the choice is on them, just as it was the day they launched their invasion.

In this particular case, it's debatable whether a compromise from both sides at this stage would result in more suffering than an expansion of the war, especially as it pertains to Western Europe and the US. Key word: debatable.

would you consider it equitable if Ukraine started hitting energy infrastructure in Russia?

Do you honestly beleive that there would be no suffering without weapons being supplied to Ukraine to defend themselves? Have you missed the torture chambers and mass graves or the rapes of women and children or does that not constitute suffering in your opinion?

Perhaps we shouldn't have opposed Hitler and then London would not have burned and maybe if we gave Hawaii and California to Japan Pearl Harbor wouldn't have happened..smdh

It is not a question of equability. War is war and I wouldn't be surprised if it happens. If and when it does you can be assured Russia will respond in kind with a much more forceful barrage of missiles. This war has already escalated to that point. I doubt enough arms will be poured into Ukraine to keep a tit for tat going for much longer as they are screaming for such weapons now. That said it becomes a question of NATO involvement (IE volleys from NATO countries). If that happens all bets are off. I see such a scenario as the beginning of WW III.
