Not my intention. I was really responding to the prior post, not yours. The one that said that a doctor can tell you whether or not it's murder even if it's legal. It was the use of the charged term "murder". I see plenty of killings, many by police, that I would call immoral which are not murder. I was just making a legal/medical distinction. I'm quite certain that there are plenty of abortion decisions that I would strongly morally disapprove of. No doubt on that one.
Sorry I opened up this can of worms here. I should not have used the word Surgeries except it is an area Planned Parenthood wants to explore. There are articles all over the internet talking about how Planned Parenthood is getting heavily involved in Gender re-assignment therapies. It is supposed to be one of their biggest growing business plans now.
They are involved in hormonal therapies. They are not involved in surgeries. I used your words, and the distinction is significant. If you have a source that says PP is performing surgeries, which was your word, I'd be happy to look at it. But I suspect that you've been drinking from the same sources that you do for lots of your points. Parenthetically, I looked it up because I knew that did not sound correct. I'm willing to concede error if you show otherwise, but the legal regimen for performing surgery is way different then providing hormones. It made no sense.
Yeah, but please be mindful of the motivation of the website you find these articles. Once I started doing that, the articles dwindled substantially and the story being told changed dramatically.
I agree that I used the word surgery incorrectly when I meant to say therapies. Do you not agree that Planned Parenthood is taking a larger stake in Trans Gender issues. This will be my last post on the subject. Happy to join in on another post that features this issue.
I don't know if they're taking a larger role, but if they are, I would suspect that it's due to the same considerations that cause them to occupy such a large role in abortion. Namely, that someone has to step up due to all those that leave the market for fear of their safety, due to the stochastic terrorism that results from too much of the type of certainty that this thread reflects. It's already been shown how often it turns dangerous and threatening, as shown in the other thread about the Boston Children's Hospital. Those providers leave the market and Planned Parenthood usually has to fill the gap because they have an ethos of providing services that others don't out of fear for their lives
Considering all the services they offer, that one is a small portion of it, and it doesn't allow for anyone under 18 to receive services, so no, I don't agree. Services
Abortion thru the 57th trimester. Imagine telling that teenager, "Johnny, go clean your room or by God I will abort your ass!" Clean room I bet.
I am not condemning anyone. I am fighting to protect the most innocent from death for convenience. You are welcome to support that position. It is a position I do not agree with for sure.
Your fight shouldn't be making abortion illegal and unsafe, then. It should be making it rare. Making abortion illegal doesn't stop anyone. It only makes outcomes poorer, as illegal and unsafe abortions result in bad outcomes. Including maternal deaths, as well as making women infertile, preventing future pregnancies. Your statement you're protecting the most innocent comes off as sanctimonious. Tell the woman who wants to abort, mind made up, that she is killing an innocent person. At best, you'll be ignored. Instead, we all should work to make abortion more rare. This is done through sex education. Lower demand, and supply will follow. Outlaw supply, but keep demand levels the same, and all you accomplish is creating a black market.
No, a lot of Pubs have a problem with abortion when it is basically used as a form of birth control because two adults were irresponsible. Pregnancies caused by rape and incest or those that put the health of the mother at severe risk are a different story but the fact is well over 90% of abortions occur because two people weren’t responsible enough to use readily available contraception. There were nearly 1M abortions in the US last year but that is not an issue for most Dems, who prefer to be enablers and not hold people responsible for their actions.
Nice platitude. But making abortions illegal not only stop no woman from aborting, the unintended consequences are worse health care outcomes for women. More complications from unsafe and illegal abortions, including more women dead, and more infertile preventing future kids. If you really want to protect the most innocent, outlawing abortions won't help. It only makes you sound condescending, and doesn't accomplish your goals. Instead, it hurts women.
Well, talk to the OP. He's a pub & is in favor of 93% of abortions or Mitch "15 months" McConnell who is also in fav of 93% of abortions. I think overturning Roe changed have to had for a lot of pubs, cuz a few million dead babies is worth it to get their big gov econ policies passed .
Should the man be able to give his opinion if he raped her? How about if she’s 11-years old and he’s 12 years old? How about if he’s her brother? How about if it was a one-night stand? Every possible abortion situation is different.
There is no absolute right or wrong here that we can know of, we just make rules as a society. We have different words for different forms of killing based on the context, with some being illegal and some legal. Murder, homicide, man-slaughter, self-defense, capital punishment, killing in war, abortion, etc.. “Abortion” is part of the host’s bodily autonomy privacy rights superseding the unborn within a certain time frame. Personally, I'm good with 15 weeks.
A 10-year old daughter gets impregnated by her 12-year old boyfriend. She doesn’t tell anyone that she is pregnant until the middle of the 3rd trimester. Testing shows that the baby will be born without legs and will have the mental capacity of a rabbit. She and her family want her to have an abortion. Should there be a law that says she can’t have the abortion?
