That wasnt my opinion, that's just a fact about how reproduction works. You are a sperm donor as far as nature is concerned. Your part is over once you ejaculate. Obviously, we dont live in nature but a society of sorts where other things matter. But the idea that you have some kind of mystical input that you cant specify is an invention of whatever you believe.
Ok my definition of input is that a man and a woman conceived a fetus. The man should be able to give his opinion on what happens next. With that said a woman after hearing her partners opinion, if he even wants to give one, should then have 100% of the choice until the fetus becomes a human life. At that point the man's opinion should be more impactful to the ultimate decisions.
What does more "impactful" mean? Pretty sure you can express an opinion anytime you want at any point of a pregnancy. And if you pass some kind of law, that's not your opinion being heard or respected, thats the power of the state backed by legal force, they dont care what you think or ask you. Your will isnt being respected or heard, its being decided for you. Because what if your will is for an abortion at 16 weeks along with the mothers?
We do not allow people to harm others. And that is what the abortion procedure does. It kills the life separate from the mother. Whether you want to accept it or not…your life began as a zygote at conception like all of our lives. We had our own dna and 46 chromosomes. Separate from our mother and father at that point.
a fetus is not a child. It is a potential child. I don’t like the idea of abortion. I just think that you and I making calls for people we don’t know is wrong.
We are not animals that live in Nature. We are human Beings and I believe it has been proven that children are much more well rounded when there is a Mother and a Father around to raise them. I get you are pro abortion believe it or not so am I, but within reason. I just feel there are certain restrictions to abortion on demand that should be adhered to. That is the discussion I would like to have not defend a position I don't even have. Do you feel that nothing goes too far in a woman's right to make all the choices and that a man should have no say whatsoever. If that's your position fine it doesn't make you a horrible person just not someone whose position I agree with. This was the purpose of the post, to see if we can find common ground on a problem that divides us as a nation.
No. Your life began at conception as a zygote with your own DNA and your own 46 chromosomes. Separate from your mother and father.
You cant even explain what you mean by "a say." You are obviously dancing around that, being evasive or just trying to sound reasonable by using agreeable language. That means nothing to me unless you explain what you want. You keep saying there should be a law or limits, but thats not you getting a "say" in your own life, thats the government deciding for everyone.
But at conceptions, you are not separate from your mother. You are 100%, wholly and completely dependent upon her, and only her for life. She dies while you are in utero before viability, so do you. The closest analogue we have for one person being 100% dependent upon another to live may be people on life support. And the person with power of attorney is not charged with murder if/when they pull the plug. Another analogue maybe a person who needs a transplant, and only one donor is available, and time is of the essence. Again, if the donor decides not to donate, we do not charge them with murder. We may disagree with the decision, and hold the person in disdain, but we honor their choice, do we not? Yet, the the pregnant woman has no choice? It's her body that has to undergo the rigors of pregnancy. It should be up to her whether or not she wants to go through with it.
It absolutely is a separate life. A life that needs just as much support the second the child takes its first breath. For years before it can self sustain itself.
And we disagree. Outside the awful situations where the child or mothers life depends on decisions that need to be made for their protection that could involve harm to one or both of them.
Convenience is a pretty loaded term. I'm sure some people might think its convenient to pull the plug on someone who incapacitated with no hope for recovery, ala the Terry Schiavo controversy. Some people think its a mercy.
