It’s like driving a car off a cliff and then asking any mechanic you can find to tell you how to fix it. This economy is totaled. It will take a reboot. But more importantly, take away the last drivers license

I agree. But 2020 is when the no platform thing started. My guess is that by the time we have another federal election that a platform will exist.

No matter how many gazillions we spend on defense it's never enough. How many guns/bombs do we really need?

Correspondingly, no matter the tax rate, Rs always think it's too high. Just cut it to zero and see how that works out.

Under Trump we had $2 gas, a secure border, crime was nothing like it is now. Inflation was under 2%, we had low interest rates and oil was literally $50 or less. We had solutions and we were providing solutions only to have the Obiden admin screw it all up and destroy everything in less than 2 years.

Then we got Covid (of which you misspelled it as Biden) which you failed to consider as a fairly major factor. You also conveniently failed to mention Russia and its itty bitty invasion of Ukraine. You also left out a often Republican MAGA forgetful moment know as an insurrection or a real life "we hate America so lets overthrow it"happening.

Lets also add that if you drive one of the F150 or equally sized trucks and complain at anytime about gas prices please do explain your position of absolute stupidity. Sure you can buy one at ridiculous prices but you also should have considered that your MAGA flag flying transport was bound to cost a bit to operate it. Did Biden force that on you too?

Wow. So now you know if people need trucks or not? What else do you know? Lotto numbers?

You realize the people driving those big trucks that are hurt the most are the ones that use those trucks to make their living.

I had an F150 for years. It was my livlihood.

We had 7% unemployment, tens of thousands dying a week from Covid, and a Putin puppet selling our country off piece by piece to Saudi Arabia.

Everything is appreciably better under Biden unless you root for Russia in the Ukraine war.

I now realize why this "platform" strikes me as vapid. It's the white middle class "me me me" platform.

Let me and others like me cheat on my taxes
    Protect me from illegals
Protect me from other people getting drugs
Protect me from threats from overseas
    Reduce my taxes
    Protect me from criminals
Protect me from being muted on social media

Not a lick about helping the less fortunate, ensuring opportunities for the next generation (eg education) or protecting our democracy.

    Me me me.

    Barf.

I'm having a hard time understanding how you've paid "100k in federal taxes YTD" without an annual income in excess of 500K. Do you own a business? And if so, does that 100K+ number include your business' taxes (payroll, income, etc)?

Geez, some people just won't admit that both sides issue platitudes and vague statements that are often meaningless.

I would opine that the vast vast majority do not, in fact, use these trucks to make their living. Particularly personal (non fleet) trucks. It’s sometimes obvious which ones are for work vs. for show. Others may be a more of a grey area, where they show up at the job site in a personal truck because this is what all their peers drive, but practically speaking they spend very little time hauling/towing or going off road. If you see an individual guy hauling equipment or materials in his stock f150 truck, (the proverbial work truck) then you know it’s practical and nobody has issues with a blue collar worker using his truck. Obviously there are so many trucks on the road you can’t assume why people drive them. But if you see some turd rolling coal in his raised diesel f250, it’s probably something else going on.

At least those using for work get to deduct their (legitimate) fuel expenses as a business expense. I bet some deduct a little extra (what they actually use for personal driving) if they think they can get away with it.

I agree about the grey area ...to an extent.
When I had my business. (Decks, Custom Fencing, Outdoor living contractor) i had a truck that was often more empty than the guys working for me, but it was also my billboard. It needed to be as nice as was fiscally reasonable and it needed to be able to pull and haul on the occasion I had to jump in and get a crew moving with unexpected material needs etc.

Could I have dont those things with a rust bucket 4 banger Nissan Frontier or whatever? I guess, but thats not exactly the face we want on a business.

My guess is if you hire someone, you will notice if hes driving a nice clean professional truck, or a beat up dirty older truck.

For many guys, these trucks represent them. Some for vanity, sure... but even for guys in sales for instance, that nice truck is your first impression.

Who said he wants those things for himself. Safe borders, stoping fentanyl, a strong defense, not throwing money at a broken tax system, reducing taxes and spending etc certainly do impact OTHERS.. How are those things selfish?

I mean to be unselfish does one have to be in favor of weaker borders, pro tax hikes, pro wasteful spending, pro fentanyl deaths and support a weak miliatary?

That may be the most made up post Ive read here in a long time. Everything he listed impacts every poor, middle class and wealthy American.

    Talk about "barf".

They want to give lip service and just talk about it like it is the other side's fault entirely. They didn't have a real agenda last time and still won the presidency with an immoral waste of oxygen.

If they were smart, they would go back to their roots which attracted a lot of middle people like me. There has been no mention of a balanced budget or controlling the debt. No debates either. Amazing.

Why do I want to start every response to you with "bullshit"? Saying his goals are myopically beneficial to the white middle class does not imply I'm pro open borders, weak military, tax hikes and fentanyl loving. It's insultingly fallacious. Before you moderate me yet again, there's no other word that conveys my feelings on your methods.

The largest issues in America, according to American's themselves, are:

    Health care
    Drug addiction
    Education
    Climate change
    Economic inequality
    Racism
    Illegal immigration
    Terrorism
    Sexism
    Access to jobs

Many of these issues affect the lower class disproportionally more than the others but don't show up on kurt's original list.

His (and I guess your's) list of Republican priorities highlight a fear and grievance agenda propagated by the likes of Fox News. I find those limited priorities naive, short sighted and unhelpful.

    1. I never moderated you in a post to me. I never do that. So not sure what you are talking about. If you broke a rule thats on you, but I generally do not moderate direct conversations that I am a pert of to prevent the perception that I am censoring for my benefit

    2. Now you're saying its me too? Did you read my list upthread? Read this and tell me what you thing is selfish about my position: What does the GOP want to do about the country's problems?
    3. Several of the things in your list were on his list too... And mine as well.
