We probably wouldn't have had to worry about the orange guy if the Republicans used rank choice voting in their nominating process (although the situation is different the same probably would have applied to the Democrats in 2020 with respect to Biden). I seriously doubt that Trump would have been a second or even a third choice for Republicans who voted for Jeb, Marco or John Kasich in the 2016 primaries.

You are 100% correct, however for some reason there's been a huge backlash against ranked choice voting. The Florida Legislature quickly stamped out any opportunity here for it to come true. This was before the Sarah Palin loss

I haven't looked into this story. But a law professor jokingly told us one time that if you're going to make something up to be very specific because people will be 62.7% more likely to believe it. Notably, in all of the things I've seen and read about interrogation and body language/verbal language and identifying signs of deception, someone offering lots of details -especially ones that were not asked for - can be a red flag indicating deception.

 

I was told the same thing by Jessica Alba when we were on a date. She mentioned it right before she took a bite of her chicken marsala at the Italian restaurant/video arcade with the 60 watt light bulbs we often went to.
