I have said the Putin's attacks on Ukrainian civilian targets is straight out of the Russian playbook in Syria and Chechnya. His strategy also bears a strong resemblance to that of another dictator who targeted civilians. When the UK was bombed nightly for eight months in a row WWII letter contains parallels with Russia’s attacks on Ukrainian civilians - Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists
The Ukraine military has killed way more civilians by its artillery strikes on Donetsk city. In 2003 U.S. 'shock and awe' in Baghdad killed at least 10,000 people. Israel kills hundreds of civilians during each of its frequent onslaughts on Gaza. Russia is obviously avoiding to kill civilians but still gets accused of doing it. Plus, of the 14 civilians killed in Kyiv, I wonder how many were non-military employees of the military ?
I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make here. If nothing else, you just described perfectly why Putin is not a Hitler.
I keep on waiting for an explanation of just how the US would defeat Russia in this particular theatre. All I’ve gotten to date is ‘technology’ and ‘Murica!’
If NATO saw Putin as anything like another Hitler, they would have disposed of him a long time ago. As you noted, Putin has nukes, so the stakes are even higher.
Nobody told me this was make up any lies to support your narrative day. Russians torture, rape, and steal constantly. And so do the Russian soldiers. Yeah this making up stuff as you like is easy. Poster might want to provide credible links for his statements or we know they're lies.
A few months back Zelensky fired his minister who fabricated the Russian mass-rape narrative. Apparently, some lies are too outlandish even for the Ukrainians.
Couple of points: Putin turned 70, for those that have followed his career, especially the last 20 years, he fancies himself as an example of the "Ideal" Russian man, with his well publicized manly exploits. At 70, one should not discount his recognizing his biological clock is ticking. Nor should one discount his nihilism, his willingness to murder political opponents, imprison political opposition and of course his farcical approach toward continuing an ongoing dictatorship. All of this suggests a God complex. Any student of this man and his reign should realize that the conquest and annexation of the Crimea and the Ukraine are fundamental to his legacy and ambitions. Does that ambition lead to the use of Nuclear Weapons if it cannot be attained with conventional forces? That is the 64k question now, isn't it.
Just one reason why your analogy completely falls apart, prior to the 1967 war Israel was routinely shelled from Syrian positions in the Golan heights with civilian areas being the primary targets. Unless I missed it, Russia was never the target of shelling or other military operations from the Donbass and by the way Russia effectively occupied part of the region closest to Russia before Zelesnsky was even elected. Just in case you were unaware of the history. In the period between the first Arab–Israeli War and the Six-Day War, the Syrians constantly harassed Israeli border communities by firing artillery shells from their dominant positions on the Golan Heights.[87] In October 1966 Israel brought the matter up before the United Nations. Five nations sponsored a resolution criticizing Syria for its actions but it failed to pass due to a Soviet veto.[88][89]
Putin bombing civilians is despicable, it’s also a sign of weakness. It shows he has nothing else to do but to try and scare his enemies. It is also almost certainly for domestic consumption back in Russia, to show how tough he is being, which again indicates he is weak. If a coup is going to happen (a huge if), it would happen around now. Before the western front is largely lost. But a coup could make things worse, not better. It would likely be hard liners.
Every week for the last few months Putin has fired a General that had facilitated the looting, raping, torture of that narrative.....seems no lies are beyond some posters.
sounds like the bridge explosion is going to interrupt fuel supplies and Russia has no reserves in the theatre. Looks like Ukraine may be getting a new supply of tanks and armored vehicles if the retreating russians have no fuel to take the machinery with them Russian forces 'will soon be down to their last supplies of fuel' after Kerch Bridge attack (msn.com) "If we're talking about the ability to manoeuvre, ie drive places, I think we are talking days into very short weeks of supply," intelligence analyst Forbes McKenzie told Sky News. Ukrainians have been degrading Russian logistics with artillery and well targeted HIMARS rocket attacks, but the Kerch Bridge attack has left Russians even more exposed. They will soon be unable to move their troops, say observers, which will put them in huge difficulty if the Ukrainians continue advancing. Mr McKenzie said: "Can they stand and fight? They could sustain that likely through the winter time but if Ukraine has Russia on the move, ie they are dominating the battle space, pushing them back, forcing the Russians to manoeuvre and there's no diesel to manoeuvre the armour with, it's highly likely the armour will be left in place."
Hmmm - Seems like the "Putin bridge strike" so aptly described by G8tr above suggests some well thought out strategic thinking. I wonder where that came from......
