If opposing players cursed out Spurrier during pregame, he'd make it a point to keep throwing the ball even if up 56-0. Spurs loved attention and himself just like Deion.
Gator fans think their shit doesn't stink. We spend more time talking shit/trashing other programs than worrying about our own.
Except Deion is carrying himself as of he is still on a reality TV show. He films his entry to the field? And not him walking side by side with his player but his solo walk escorted by his security. He is promoting himself and not the team with tshirts with no mention of the team or school. Often makes the post and pregame pressers about him, usually while speaking in the 3rd person. And yes these coaches can and may leave for better gigs but that doesn't mean they don't or can't bleed whatever team color they are repping, if for no other reason then leading by example for his players. I mean he is telling the parents when he comes in their living rooms to recruit that he is there for their kids.
Coach Spurrier is NOTHING like Deion Sanders. Your bias is more than obvious and your intentional comparison with Florida's most beloved former coach is ridiculous, at best.
You walk thru another team's warmup and you can expect a lot of heat. If you do it, don't whine about the reaction you get.
You're kidding, right? There has always been a proud tradition amongst the HBCU's with their football programs. Grambling and Southern play yearly in New Orleans and it's an event for the whole city for the entire weekend. Deion comes in and makes it all about himself. And because of his pull and his name, he can recruit better players than everyone else in the SWAC. He'll up-end it and leave when a new opportunity comes along, which is any day now. Then the SWAC is left to lick their wounds after being used by a single narcissistic person. Eddie Robinson would roll in his grave.
Lol….@ antny2, some of us folks from Pensacola tend to talk with a little bit of that “ south in our mouth” but don’t be fooled, we still know how to go to class and graduate
Eh, Emmitt was pretty bad during his attempt at working for ESPN was painful. The Ends Of a Era: Emmitt Smith Cut by ESPN I loved Emmitt as a Gator and rooted for him in Dallas but I'm older now and just don't have the same hero worship I did when I was younger. Not implying that you or anyone else here "worships" him. I appreciate Warrick Dunn the person for example much moreso than I do Emmitt these days. Just me. And I still hate fsu
So you think Spurrier would have took 2 security guards and a camera man and purposely walked thru the middle of their team with out addressing a single member of the opposition team, while acting like he owns the field? Probably not bc SOS would not have put himself in that position. To be clear , I don't have a problem with how either handled the after game handshake but it is baffling to me that some here don't see that the reaction and the subsequent attention that Prime was purposely trying to elicit. Thats his schtick , He even stated as much when asked about the disrespect leading up to the game. He said he was just trying to sell it. But that's what they do in combat sports and pro wrestling, tjey get the opponwnt all mad and flustered but he's a big enough star at this point he doesn't need those antics to get attention but it's his Reality TV mentality he has had. And IMO these games should never be about the coaches it should be about the kids who are still young and trying to make their way in world.
The signs all point to it. Let me guess, I don’t see him because of the best feature on GC, I can almost guarantee he’s here though. Y’all are tangling with the coopster, yes?? The same guy who obnoxiously defended the Rapis to no end, he’s a full on
If his players and parents of the players have no problem with it, then I sure as hell don't. And did you ever think that it's possible for him to care about the program, those kids and himself all at the same time? Shocking thought, I know.
I never said they were anything alike, I simply said Spurrier loved attention (fact) and he loved himself (fact) just like Deion. If those facts bother people, then so be it.
And if your players curse out an opposing coach during pregame warmups, then don't whine when that opposing coach continues to air it out late in the game.
Deion has made people who didn't care about that level of football start paying attention, including NFL scouts. That's just a fact. And what's the difference between Deion using his pull and his name to recruit better players than everyone else in the SWAC and Nick Saban, Kirby Smart, Dabo Swinney etc using their pull and name to recruit better players than everyone else in America? And if he chooses to leave when a new opportunity comes along, then he'll be doing what every other coach in America does when they get a better job opportunity. I find it very interesting how most of the complaints about what Deion does are routine stuff every other college football coach in America does. Very interesting.
You defend a nole for starting shit prior to a game and then opposing players curse at him AFTER Sanders started the shit You sound like a closet nole.
