Byrd was a racist and a former klansmen as many of the pre civil rights southern democrats were before the parties in the south flipped. He’s also been dead over a decade, and at least outwardly disavowed his racist views decades before that. What is the relevance? Meanwhile, Tuberville just gave a speech that would go perfectly at a klan rally. This was 2 days ago.

He's definitely not the only former/current college football coach who feels that way, since he's no longer involved in sports and is in politics he's free to let it be known how he really feels. Before I entered this thread, I wondered how a certain contingent would attempt to deflect from Tuberville's ignorant statements. I certainly got my answer.
I don’t think that former black players who liked him will let this slide. It’s not the kind of thing that black people ignore. Perhaps, they won’t hate him, but it likely changes perceptions. BTW, love is a strong word for the typical relationship between a player and a former coach. I’m sure there are a few here and there that have a strong bond, but not the overwhelming majority.

I do agree with him in that the liberal party of the United States has created a huge problem for many law abiding citizens and has put many police officers in increased danger. Tuberville is upset with the libbie party but his words are poorly chosen.
