Personally I hope they plan to stick to the government powers listed in the constitution and let the market work on fixing itself. The current inflationary environment is entirely caused by government mandated supply chain shutdowns and unemployment followed by the government handing out free money. What do you think is going to happen when you greatly reduce the amount of goods available and then double the amount of money in circulation? I'm pretty sure a kindergarten class could deduce that a dollar would be worth less than before.

Why should we trust them to fix problems they caused?

Does that explain the inflation in Europe?

As far as I know almost all European governments decided to close down their economies as well. I don't know a lot about the EUs economy but a few minutes of research leads me to believe they also caused their own issues

ECB to print 1 trillion euro this year to stem coronavirus rout
I like how they blame coronavirus rather than bad decision making by government. Really amazing.

So a once in a century pandemic that killed over a million people and the first war in Europe in over sixty years had nothing to do with it?

The amount of circular argument presented on this forum is nothing short of amazing.

Study after study showed that lockdowns had basically no impact

“While this meta-analysis concludes that lockdowns have had little to no public health effects, they have imposed enormous economic and social costs where they have been adopted. In consequence, lockdown policies are ill-founded and should be rejected as a pandemic policy instrument.”

    https://sites.krieger.jhu.edu/iae/f...ffects-of-Lockdowns-on-COVID-19-Mortality.pdf

So yes, the government shutting down the economy rather than listening to the overwhelming evidence that at risk populations should exercise caution while healthy (98% of people) should just live life is completely to blame. Instead of looking at data and making informed decisions they chose to not only make I'll informed, harmful decisions but then in many cases double down. Should we have shut down for a couple weeks or month until data was available? Maybe. For years, despite overwhelming evidence that it helps nothing? No.

If there was a dangerous animal reported in my neighborhood I'd have my family stay inside until it was captured, but if it turned out the animal was an aggressive turkey I'd continue business as usual but not allow children or my 85 year old grandpa outside alone. The government decided we should all stay inside and shut down entire economies for years instead.

As for Ukraine, look at oil and commodity prices before and after. Don't buy the excuses, use data.

Plenty of places were. Here's California's timeline which starts off noting how the governor's executive orders weren't dropped until day 762, and the state "reopened", lol, on day 506. It's officially listed as 453 days of lockdown for the world's 5th largest economy.

Remember when? Timeline marks key events in California's year-long pandemic grind

Much of the EU was locked down or greatly restricted for a year or so, same as many areas of the US. China implemented hilariously strict lockdowns. This, in addition to doubling our money supply, are the reasons why inflation is here. No, I don't trust people who caused it and then tried to convince us it was transitory (when anyone with critical thinking skills could see it wasn't) to fix it. I'm fine with them inflating the value of my assets, allowing me to borrow hundreds of thousands of dollars at 2.75% and getting me 8% raises in line with inflation but it's not going to help the economy as a whole.

There are still places that require masks and/or vaccines (which do little to nothing to help) which effectively shuts them down for like 50% of the world.

Edited for spelling and phone auto corrections

It's convenient how you skipped over the last 50 years for your examples.

Feel free to look up Biden's agenda and it's successes. It's actual governing, unlike the GOP's "brown people bad" agenda.

You start a thread asking a question that’s easily researched for answers then give this response to a similar question?

Cape. You're missing the whole point. They dont want real answers to the question. They want to mock answers to the question.

Both sides have plans and platforms that they constantly fail miserably at.

The other side will then mock one and ignore their own. This thread is just an example.

That may well be the case as far as some of the members on this board are concerned and I also agree that windbags on capitol hill have a lot to answer for from all sides of the aisle concerning the malaise we are experiencing. The sad reality is the windbags will do nothing to correct the issues until they feel the pinch of their neglect.
