Deeply Disturbed, Heavily Armed trump supporters promise civil war

So let me get this straight:
Despite thousands of mentions of civil war each hour on social media, it's really liberals commenting about it on Too Hot who are driving the conversation?
And despite promises of "a bloody and desperate fight" to overturn the election, a couple thousand people entering the Capitol, smashing windows, attacking police, talking about killing elected officials ... it was really just a protest blown out of proportion by the media?

Oh, and how about that time some black folks walked into a senior living center? Why isn't that treated just like that attempt to overturn our democracy? I mean, some of those guys were wearing sunglasses!

 

Go back to the meme I questioned, read the things I said about it then put your thinking cap on. I think you will understand then. You have a select few photos of people wearing helmets or gas masks and it is called "Combat Gear" in the meme. Politifact would call this false. You have people outside wearing short sleeves on a day when the high temp was 39 with 15 to 20 mph wind..... If this were a conservative meme Politifact would label it mostly false due to not all photos being from where they were claimed to be. There are photos showing thousands of people not wearing vests or helmets or gas masks but what is insinuated in these memes is a mob in "Combat Gear". You have a cartoon showing people swinging baseball bats with nails in them......All I am asking for is to can the bogus BS this poster is known for and at least post honest memes.

 

Actually, you started objecting well before that particular meme was posted. (You know, like when you said it was only liberals talking about civil war or when you posted the photo of the gang member in Mexico or somewhere.)
But now let me see if I understand, your objection is with the that one meme where one or more of the 19 photos are likely not from Jan. 6? Is that it?
As far as Politifact, there are many, many memes being produced every day. Politifact doesn't factcheck every single one of them. The fact that it didn't check that one is hardly proof that conservatives are treated so unfairly, despite how much you want to believe it does.

In addition to the violence on Jan 6, those who attacked the Capitol were assaulting the US Congress in session performing its Constitutional duty to certify the legitimate election of Trump's opponent. The Trump insurrectionists are unAmerican traitors to the US for not allowing a peaceful transition of power for the first time in our history.

Those defending the indefensible on Jan 6 are clueless.

 

It's either commenting on right wing crimes or investigating right wing crimes that are the problem, not them doing the crimes in the first place.

 

Fair enough, just so Im clear, Im not excusing Jan 6 and never have - I agree with your last sentence as well. Maybe you had the same energy I will admit Im not sure so Ill apologise and back off that statement but you know good and well the far left on this site either nearly excused the results of the riots, turned a blind eye to it or the very fringe basically cheered it on.

Lets not pretend this place is a strgonghaven for bi-partisanship and unity. I said there are levels to it, do you need more than that? Sure, there are some level headed people around here but those are the ones who don't claim one side or the other. There are a couple good ones who claim one side or the other but lets be honest - those are few and far between.

One side cares and puts more energy into one event and the injuries caused by it and one side cares about a other events. As always, Dem-Reps only care about events or issues in the name of what they believe and advocate for as opposed to condemning everyone with the same criteria.

And that Democrats only care about the casualties of Jan. 6 and not the people injured or killed in the riots of 2020?

At a deep, deep level I would say no. Im sure 99% of this board is morally better than they act on this forum, myself included. If we were all in a room together not knowing each other and not talking politics, I'd bet we would all get along. However, the internet and political fights bring out the worst in everyone. This forum specifically is very hostile and it really doesn't pay to be neutral. Since if it doesn't even pay to be neutral, neither side feels obligated to toe the line.

So at face value, I'd say neither side acts like they care about the casualties if its from an event they side with.

I would love nothing more than for people to toe the line a bit more around here and be more analytical with their beliefs and opinions but the nation as a whole is fractured. While I think the complaining about Trump pre Jan 6 was over the top - now its clear that whether he is directly responsible or not, (neither side was forced by Trump to treat their fellow citizens like crap due to their beliefs and poilitical opinions, at the end of the day thats still a personal choice) we are a completely fractured nation, more so than almost anytime in history.

Will the back and forth ever stop? This is why we were warned about the two party system. We will only be destroyed from within. The enemy isn't your neighbor.

And the fact that he has yet to concede that he lost the election even though the other guy received almost 8 million more votes is indicative of his dementia or at least his Narcissistic Personality Disorder which is so severe that he continues to deny reality.

 

So..breaking into the US Congress with the support of a very needy President has to be compared to previous riots in order to justify it. I cannot fior the life of me see how ANY AMERICAN can feel good abiut an attempt to overthrow our Democracy and also to invalidate everyones vote. Every person there should be ashaned of their actions and thise supporting the same deserve no ones respect.

By the way, i agree with police reform and review of how they operate and am always against rioting and looting.

The point was strictly about injuries and deaths to people and/or law enforcement officers during events - not in any way to justify Jan 6.
