You're delusional. The defense was considered the weak link on the team, especially the defensive line. Who called us elite after giving up over 600 yards and 38 points to Tennessee? Even last week Eastern Washington moved the ball on us and had more first downs and led in time of possession as well. We're not even in the Top 100 in defense nationally.

I'm ready for Jalen Kitna, Richardson is way over his head!
    3rd & 22, 3rd & 15 and 3rd & 18? How come???????????
And can someone please explain how a team can throw in the flat with no one within 1-12 yards of him?
I have to assume this is a process by the coach.
Looks to me like this team wants to give every game away!

I actually did think AR was hurt. Then he tosses a dime to Pearsol. Obviously, I'm often confused. Kids balled out today. 1 penalty, inconsistant, but I'll take that win any day.

Tenn killing it today. Auburn stinking it up.

We should be able to nail-bite our way to a few more wins.o_O:eek::D

    Keep the faith!

    Go Gators.

Again, there is no call where there isn’t a flat responsibility.

Now how certain guys are continuously blowing that I don’t know. I have to think the alternative is even less pleasant.

He might know more about that but DAMN....he might want to rethink it after the outcomes.

you mean the post regarding our prolific passing offense and checking down to the open receiver for the 1 yard gain? I’m not satisfied with play calling or the play design. Will give him 4 years to turn this around and get players that fit his system, but every game is going to be a dog fight and close so don’t game in this offense. No Spurrier type exciting offense here

I mean the post responding to the post that was suggesting a one yard pass gain was the called play. Don't know why people whine about play design when they don't even know what the play was.

Regarding the DC’s philosophy, I think we are seeing his philosophy right now on defense, which is to play it safe. All well and good when you have the talent, but it won’t elevate the talent you have on hand. Missouri’s offense isn’t close to the Tennessee offense, and they still were able to consistently drive the ball and keep our offense off the field.

Look at Missouri’s defense versus our own. They are aggressive and force the offense to make a play versus sitting back and hoping the offense doesn’t make a play. Two different philosophies, yet one allowed Missouri with their anemic offense to almost beat UGA, and the other will most likely lead to a loss.

It is our defensive scheme. The corners bail with the receivers, and the LB doesn’t make it out there into coverage in time. The same issue has occurred in the past 3 games, with the opposing teams attacking that same defensive formation in different ways. As long as the corners are bailing and the LB isn’t immediately following the RB, that pass will be wide open.

Looking at some of our names on the DL vs the number of plays they are in. There is no way they are effective at that snap count. Which goes back to depth and recruiting. Look at how often Dexter is in there and at what position.

Still frustrating as heck and I certainly don’t want PT to be TJ (Todd Jr) :). It is going to be a rough ride. Buckle up buttercup?

Remember some of the great Gator D’s, we had 8 starting lineman and just rotated groups of 4. Big difference on the pressure you can bring with fresher legs.

I think the sample size is WAY too small and no one can reasonably extrapolate the DC's "philosophy" from how he has played the limited hand he was dealt this year.

We are relying on a LB to first stop the run and then rush out to cover the flats. That is a tough ask for a freshman LB to perform. Especially when the RB motions out into the flat and makes it 2 on 3 for the defense

I keep trying to avoid the name, but that was not LB responsibility. Look who was down in the box split out beyond the hash. That was covered if only the will existed.

If you’re covering for Burney, totally agree. He’s being asked to make chicken salad out of that other chicken product and I said the same last night in another thread.

But that wasn’t him. He played well today.

It is from his own words. He likes his simulated pressures because it allows him to confuse the offense with a blitz look while also having as many as possible back in coverage.

Hopefully I am wrong, but nothing to this point about our defense screams aggressive. Other DCs have inherited much worse situations than our defense and ran a much more aggressive defense.

Everyone was inferring he was hurt- sometimes I embrace group think. Then he tossed a dime and redeemed himself. Less consistent today-but he did pull off the win along with the rest of the players. Last week he got yanked, our back up looked Olympic and then AR finished off super strong. I think an occasional benching is good - see Spurrier for details.

I just sit at home chewing my nails. Someone must know more than I.

I do know I love the corch. Love the team. The youngsters are learning on then job. And the future looks good.

Now we just need to win out!o_O:eek::p:rolleyes:

When I or any Gators fans say sit AR when he is in a mopey mood, give a backup a drive or two to discuss with AR what might work better and ask him if injuries are keeping him from performing at a high level. He is now rested and focused how to get the team moving the chains and scoring. The offense, on homecoming with a fg in the first half, 66 yards of offense. Any backup including Max Brown could do better. It was disheartening to see us struggle on offense.
What’s the worst that could happen, nothing because we at that point had barely moved the needle in offensive efficiency.
Whats the best that could happen, we might move the chains and score.
So, what is the downside to a short rest, check for injuries, and focus on what the coach thinks might work? Absolutely nothing! Quit being so sensitive, not good for the team. You might even give AR false hope and he forces more bad passes and might try to do to much and get hurt and be out for the season. Like Georgia you might find you don’t need a highly ranked athlete/qb to get a decent offense rolling. I definetly like AR and know he has unique skills which are stellar, but if he is not confident of what he can do or the play calling doesn’t fit his skills, we have problems.

My vote would be Miller with Hill a very close second. No doubt those two pics were big, but Miller is the one who took out the other receiver on both plays, allowing Hill to make the play. Plus he was all over the field making plays throughout the game.
