Seems like running a bit gets him out of his head. I understand the desire to protect him but probably need to find some ways to get him out of his head going forward.
It was a tale of 2 halves. 1st half we had 65 yards of offense and only 3 1st downs but was still tied after they came back behind their 200 yards offense in 1st half. 2nd half we got our O going a bit and racked up 265 yards in the 2nd half and 2 TD's with a few strong plays like the 4th down run from AR to the goalline and the pass to Pearsall in the EZ. And how about Jaydon Hills 1st game in 2 years and gets 2 INTs with one pick 6
Not really. They did get a sack or 2, but most of that was due to Cook running into their arms. He made them look silly 5 or 6 times and don't forget their RB had a career day. The best tackles were from one guy, Miller.
I believe AR is far from 100% healed (ankle pre- Ky). Doesn't have his normal fluidity, cuts, jukes, plants, etc. Probably keeps re-aggravating it each game. Looks very frustrated and would probably sit out if staff were confident in backup. Don't watch our 3rd down defense if you have hypertension, but it's a "W". Umanmielan, McClellan, Big Dez, James, Hill looking good. If no Ventrell Miller, I think no win. O-line played better in 2nd half and Etienne was electric.
If that's the case, I would have gone with Kitna. AR is not a pocket passer, he's a dual threat and is useless being one-dimensional.
His lack of speeds makes it seem like there's an injury but I don't see much to actually confirm it. Even if he's 75% that's better than many QBs so he needs to run it more & get out of bounds or slide if that makes him comfortable.
We forced 4 punts today, bringing our season total to 17 in 6 games. That's less than 3 forced punts per game. The defense needs to figure out how to tighten up and get off the field...
Or if things don't go right he sulks and goes into a shell. However, his running sparked the offense in the second half, without that I doubt we win.
Remember a TD went through the fingers of a WR (who didn't lay out) and a huge play was interfered with (legally or not) against Pearsall and AR threw a bullet through the eye of a needle while rolling right for another TD. There were others.
We might want to revisit our thinking on going for it on fourth down when we don’t have a kicker we can trust on field goals.
Think AR had plenty of times he could have run for yardage, but he stays with the reads too long. Against the better DL they are sacks. Don’t know if it is coaching, him wanting to impress or injury. But if there is not anyone within 10 yards in front of him, Run Forest, run!
