A better analogy would be saying 'I will not pay for any paint. But if you can find someone else's paint and take it away from them, then I might agree to paint the room.'

Ok. I can see that. But I can still say I wanted to paint THAT room (Sandy). It may be that I dont think the other rooms need painted.

Well it's more like THAT room desperately needs painting, but it isn't DeSantis's room so he refuses to pay for any paint. But then a few years later DeSantis's room desperately needs painting and DeSantis is more than happy to have others pay for the paint for his room.

But he was willing to paint the SANDY room with provisions.

BTW... We can all at least agree that orange and blue paint are the proper choices right? ;)

Ever heard of a Vote o Rama in the Senate? If not look it up and tell me if a person votes yes on an amendment that they are also voting yes for what's in a bill. The Inflation Reduction Act had almost 30 Amendements that were voted on. Using the logic of @tilly or @gator95 that would mean that almost every single GOP Senator voted yes to increase IRS funding via the Inflation Reduction Act. Are you saying that's what happened?

Why not move to a more liberal state that matches your ideology? Do you even live in Florida?

The same could be said for those that bash Biden. Why not move to a different country?

Lived here proudly in Crystal River since 1990. Just because I don’t have my head up Desantis’ ass doesn’t mean I don’t love my state. We could do way better than what we currently have. Hell, look at the voting history of this state, do you really have any confidence in a Republican governor? Rick Scott was an even bigger disaster than Desantis.

Probably off-topic for this thread, although DeSantis is sleazy in his own way Rick Scott is a genuine crook. When he was CEO of Columbia/HCA the company was assessed the largest fine for Medicare fraud in the history of the program. When he was governor he pushed for mandatory drug-testing of welfare applicants and recipients. I think it was probably more than coincidence that his wife owned $62 million of stock in Soltanic, a major testing lab that would have benefited from the requirement and incidentally Scott transferred ownership of the stock to his wife three months before he made proposed drug testing welfare recipients and mandated the drug testing of state employees.

No, both sides are certainly not correct. The amendment only attaches to a bill if the amendment passes. That’s all the vote for an amendment does. In this case the amendment said that IF the bill passed they would have to pull funding from other sources. The amendment failed.

Voting for the bill passes the bill. The bill provided for $50.7B in funding. Desantis voted against bill and the funding on Jan 15th at 7:15 pm. It’s clear as day, incontrovertible, and shouldn’t even be a debate save for a poster trying to save face and keeps digging the hole deeper.

I never argued that he didn't ultimately vote no. BUT, he voted for 17B in funding with the amendment. Case closed.

Sad that your logic is flawed. Did all GOP senators vote AYE for increasing IRS funding through the Inflation Reduction Act? Did all Dem Senators vote yes for the Trump Tax cuts?

Here is the full text of the amendment DeSantis voted for, can you identify the 17B in sandy funding he voted to approve?

After section 904 (but before the short title), insert the
    following new section:
Sec. 905. (a) There is hereby rescinded an amount equal to
    1.63 percent of--
    (1) the budget authority provided (or obligation limitation
imposed) for fiscal year 2013 for any discretionary account
    in any fiscal year 2013 appropriation Act;
    (2) the budget authority provided in any advance
appropriation for fiscal year 2013 for any discretionary
account in any prior fiscal year appropriation Act; and
    (3) the contract authority provided in fiscal year 2013 for
any program that is subject to a limitation contained in any
fiscal year 2013 appropriation Act for any discretionary
    account.
    (b) Any rescission made by subsection (a) shall be applied
    proportionately--
    (1) to each discretionary account and each item of budget
authority described in such subsection; and
    (2) within each such account and item, to each program,
project, and activity (with programs, projects, and
activities as delineated in the appropriation Act or
accompanying reports for the relevant fiscal year covering
such account or item, or for accounts and items not included
in appropriation Acts, as delineated in the most recently
    submitted President's budget).
    (c) In the case of any fiscal year 2013 appropriation Act
enacted after the date of enactment of this section, any
rescission required by subsection (a) shall take effect
immediately after the enactment of such Act.
    (d) Within 30 days after the date of enactment of this
section (or, if later, 30 days after the enactment of any
fiscal year 2013 appropriation Act), the Director of the
Office of Management and Budget shall submit to the
Committees on Appropriations of the House of Representatives
and the Senate a report specifying the account and amount of
each rescission made pursuant to subsection (a).

I agree, you have already answered several times that you can't find 17B of funding for sandy in the amendment DeSantis voted for.
