"Of course it was provoked. Otherwise they wouldn't refer to it all the time as an unprovoked invasion." ~ Chomsky on the Ukraine war.

I've read many of your posts here and the football forum. You're way too good of a poster to be spending time on this bot. He is not trying to have an honest discussion.

Thanks for the kind words. I can’t help it sometimes, the diversity of opinion, even if at times asinine, just draws me in!

Will the newly mobilized troops put away their cell phones long enough to get 15 minutes of practice using a rifle, or will the war be won with expert usage of cell phone apps? Is there a Russian cell phone app for how to operate an AK-47, how to clean an AK-47, and how NOT to point the AK-47 at your buddy's head? That would give them some hope.

If the Ukrainians are not easy prey for Russia's elite special forces troops (and, in fact, are "more than a match" for them), how will they be easier prey for the newly mobilized cell phone-wielding troops?

Does Russia plan on standing the new troops up in a line for Ukrainian target practice (and letting them talk on their cell phones), and then plan on more capable troops triangulating where the bullets are coming from to return fire?

Do you actually think before you write these things?

I think he meant to say that two or three of the vanguard troops are foreign volunteers. Slight difference in the meaning. But keep trying!

So you get your information from rodents that have no vision. That explains a lot.

Russian-appointed official tells Putin's military chief to "shoot himself"
Russian-Appointed Official Tells Putin's Military Chief to 'Shoot Himself'
"Many people say that the Minister of Defense, who allowed this state of affairs to happen, could, as an officer, shoot himself," said Stremousov. "But, you know, the word 'officer' is an incomprehensible word for many."

Stremousov said Russia's defense ministry consists of "ministers, mediocre and corrupt generals and marauders."

His remarks come as Ukrainian troops press on with their counteroffensive. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a nightly video address Thursday that three more settlements had been liberated in Kherson.

Certain prominent military types are livid that Russia is ceding ground, anywhere, for any reason.

Sweden seizes evidence at Baltic Sea pipeline leak site (msn.com)

The Swedish Security Service said the probe confirmed that “detonations" caused extensive damage to the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines last week. Authorities had said when the leaks off Sweden and Denmark first surfaced that explosions were recorded in the area.

The agency, which said what happened in the Baltic Sea was “very serious,” didn't give details about its investigation.

But in a separate statement, Swedish prosecutor Mats Ljungqvist said “seizures have been made at the crime scene and these will now be investigated.”

The corruption controls the defense minister, not the other way around. Rampant corruption and cronyism has turned the russian military into a giant nepotism and fraud operation. Worried if the nuclear weapons are being handled and secured by the same groups

Yeah, but this is all part of the Big Russian strategic ploy to trick Ukraine into thinking they took back Ukrainian territory.

yeah, wait until those ukranians figure out the tanks need diesel. bet they didn't think of that.

loved reading how they had groups scavenging broken tanks/guns etc for spare parts. that level of want to, ingenuity, and organization is a good indicator of potential success moving forward. and as a kid who grew up going to the junkyard to get parts and a fan of junkyard wars, i like it..new show , battlefield junkyard creations, hybrids of functioning parts assembled together mad max style to create a viable weapon. a welder, a torch, some hydraulic fluid, and the rest is up to what you can find and put together

Since the beggining of the war, I have increasingly wondered the same. They have a huge arsenal. My instincts tell me that something could go terribly wrong at any time with that arsenal....... example:

An accidental explosion ........ which could lead to the wrong conclusions........which could lead to........"The Day After".

    or

Kremlin loss of control of a facility to "rouge" right wing fanatics that start "firing".

I know that the US has "war-gamed" similar scenerios but that provides me little comfort, as I will not be one of those American citizens getting the Gov't "bus-ride" to a secure facility.........
Along with about another 339,000,000 of my fellow Americans.
