Probably, yeah. The overall appearance of the leader being there is a strong message. And the YouTube complaints for the short time of the videos is worth the price.

I am far, far, far, far from a DeSantis fan, in case that was not clear. But everything he does is not bad. And bluntly, the serial complaints, and whining, over non-issues detracts from the mountain of serious acts of malfeasance that have defined his administration.

I did show. He voted Aye for an amendment to the bill. That means he voted YES if you are confused. Let me know if you need more help. It's not that complicated.

He voted for Aye for an amendment to a bill that approved 17billion in funding. So yes, he voted for 17 billion in sandy relief. Thanks for agreeing with me.

The logistical nightmare and diversion of resources for POTUS to head into SWFL is a far greater negative than the quickly fleeting "strong message"......which wouldn't even be received by most of the victims who lack power/internet/cable. The show of support that matters is getting aid down there asap.

Nice. State of the art mosquito control too. I heard the mosquito was the unofficial state bird from my great grandparents.
They also said their hometown of Belle Glade used to be bigger than Miami, so..

I have to confess that I do believe what I read when the source is a well respected newspaper and the article includes detailed supporting documentation of its position. Apparently, you didn't bother to read the article since you didn't even attempt to rebut it.

Until you explain why Puerto Ricans are somehow less worth the President's time and energy, I think it does.

It's a semantics game and they know it.
Votes work like this all the time. Hate parts of a bill, hold out for amended bill.
He still showed support for the 17B.

    It's just a political game.

Some here are acting like he demanded the 17B be removed and then voted yes.

No, actually he didn't. The amendment he supported contained no spending. Voting for an amendment and voting for a bill is not a semantic difference. It is just different. You just don't want it to be because it doesn't fit with who you want him to be.

He had two bills to vote for Hurricane Sandy relief. He voted no on both. The notion that because he voted for an amendment (which in no way obligated or even indicated that he would vote for the overall bill) somehow changes that is laughable.

An amendment is not a bill. There are no semantics involved. When congressmen vote on amendments is does not mean they are in favor of a bill. They attempt to add amendments all of the time for reasons like stalling or to prove a point on an unrelated issue. This does not mean they voted for a bill. Would you say that the GOP voted for the Inflation Reduction Act? No, but they voted on amendments. It is not the same

This was in 95's first post on this tedious point:

"He did approve funding for Sandy victims."

Technically, he's correct. Whether or not the whole story matters (he voted for an amendment, not a bill, he voted "nay," twice, including, evidently a "nay" on the final bill that included the amendment he actually voted "yay," on (have I got that right?) well, that depends on the beholder. Is his statement specious, misleading, and disingenuous? Yes, yes, and yes. But, technically correct.

I think the 50 states have a higher priority.
He is the president of the UNITED STATES.
Territories are basically owned by those states but are not equal to their owner.

They arent even allowed to chose the POTUS, so that alone tells you they maintain a different status. I believe they get no representative in congress too, so that tells us they have a different status.
They pay no federal income tax.
They dont get equal treatment from Medicaid. The Jones act is even enforced differently.

I have always thought we should grant them statehood. Mostly because it would be another example of our nation spreading the FULL benefits of our society to yet another people.

But until we do this, it is the 50 states... Not me... That has dictated that they get less rights than an actual state.

Okay, so you are actually arguing that Puerto Ricans are less worthy because they are, essentially, a colony, who is not of equal value and importance. I will stand by my statement that you are dumping on Puerto Ricans then.

Dude. I'm not "saying it" . Its what they are. Our government says it. I support statehood for PR. I want them to have full rights.

Until then though, the taxpaying STATES do have a legal right to first dibs on representation.

They were the spoils of war. A prize.
We should grant them full statehood, but our government has never done that.

Maybe our government should stop dumping on them. But until they do, dont make accusations about those just giving you the legal facts of the matter.
