The extreme liberal mind has no "tolerance" for anything to their right. Conservatism is radical to them. It is what it is

If I was honest about it, PR likely needs adult supervision from a responsible party more than SWFl. That island is a mess on so many levels and itis a shame as it is a beautiful place full of so much potential. If Biden wants to help SW Fl, bring the head of the ACOE with him and get the permits signed to begin dredging the sand to rebuild the causeways.

Good Lord. Do you think I'm 12?
Were you confused with what I meant?

    It's a self governing commonwealth.

Biden is the President of the United STATES, not the governor of Puerto Rico.

does conservatism include banning abortion, book burning, curriculum control, raiding the capital, and christian nationalism? The term needs to be defined

The Republican version of "conservativism," which you support, is indeed quite radical.

Appreciate your words, but I haven't moved. You mistake my trump hate from some move towards liberalism at your own error.

Trump isnt the POTUS and now what people want is for their own bad choice to not be held in check. Sorry, but I wont do that. Biden is a terrible POTUS and you can guarantee if a conservative was in PR instead of Florida there would be libs on this board barking about it

There will always be partisans barking about something. It's better that a president or governor waits to visit. We don't need politicians taking resources away from the humanitarian efforts and getting in the way of helping people just so some politician can get a photo op in the immediate aftermath of the devastation.

Extreme and unpopular abortion bans. Attempting to overthrow elections they lose. Trying to make it harder for American citizens to vote. Racist gerrymandering. Extreme and unpopular gun policies. Attacks on free speech and education. Attacks on LGBTQ rights. Attacks on democratic rights. Conspiracy theories. Anti-intellectualism. Anti-immigrant fervor.

And I dont want to make light of this by degrading further into arguments. I hope you and yours are safe my friend and my prayers are with everyone. I grew up in Charlotte and Sarasota counties. My dad had an office in Ft Myers. Couple that with 10 Hurricanes in 20 years here in the Carolinas and I feel nothing but sympathy and hurt for everyone there.

Lets fist bump and move on.

No, I mean exactly what I said. Opposing attacks on democratic rights and free speech doesn't require a person to be a "liberal." Neither does opposing the anti-immigrant fervor and anti-intellectualism. It only requires people to not align themselves with the neo-fascist movement that the self-proclaimed "conservatives" in the Republican Party have embraced.

The US Constitution is only partially applicable in Puerto Rico, Congress only needs a rational basis to treat Puerto Rico and it’s residents differently than residents of the states/DC, Congress can change the citizenship status of Puerto Rican citizens by simply changing the law, and Congress could (probably) withdraw US sovereignty over Puerto Rico in most respects by legislation if it wanted to.

I’m not arguing that that’s the best status for Puerto Rico, but it is the current status of Puerto Rico. And it certainly doesn’t scream “an integral part of the United States no different than Florida.”

    Here is what you said:

He never left the country. He went to another part of the country that got smashed by a hurricane. Why are Puerto Ricans less deserving of his time?

    Banning convenience abortions? yes
    Banning certain allowances? No.

    Book burning? Depends.

    Curriculum control? Someone's controlling it.

    Raiding the capitol? Absolutely not.

Christian Nationalism? Not according to the teachings of Christ.

Not sure that helps, but I think each of these is a nuanced position. (Exception being Jan 6)

Yeah. I know. I should have said the 50 states. I'm just laughing at the elitists here who think I dont know that PR is a US territory. God forbid we dont ever say everything exactly right every single time.

Regardless. I realize some posters in this thread are directly impacted and I dont want to continue arguing now that I'm aware of it
