5th generation South Floridian here. I know the history of progress here from firsthand accounts.

Progress in Florida over the years comes down to two words.

Air.
Conditioning.

I don’t know what is a more questionable act …… supporting Gillum after the democrats “chose” him as their candidate for governor …… or trying to rationalize his behavior after his loss. If his loss to DeSantis had a destabilizing impact on his being, that would indicate he was not mentally and emotionally suited to serve a Florida’s governor.

I hope he continues on his road to better health. Of course, he does have some legal matters with which to deal.

we had an artesian well at my grandfathers property in Clay County. Tin roof with a sprinkler running 72 degree water from it all summer on the roof. that was our air conditioning. misting system around the house long before misting systems were a thing. cracker ingenuity

But you KNOW if a pub potus did that there would be rumblings. Dubya got crucified for taking a few minutes to gather himself on 9/11. C'mon. The optics of going to Florida 2nd aint great.

Nothing displays bad faith like this. So he chooses to go to Puerto Rico, a place that can't get directly get him votes, but he must have only done it because he thought it could get him votes. So basically, if he hadn't gone, you would have criticized that and if he does go, you will criticize that too.

 

Ahh, so he should have treated Puerto Ricans like they are less important? Rumblings of what? That he thinks Puerto Ricans are just as important as Floridians?

First, it was Bob Graham who worked different jobs....as has been pointed out by others.

But more importantly, both of those were campaign efforts. Those guys were running for office and found brilliant ways to connect with voters.
So are you suggesting Desantis is using a disaster as a campaign appearance/opportunity? Why else would you correlate Chiles and Grahams campaign efforts to this appearance?
And for the record, I have no problem with the Desantis-Waffle House thing. It's fine he did it, most pol's would do something similar. None should necessarily be praised for it. It's an opp.
