Slow down MAGA folks! Seems to me that the gas prices are falling nicely (noting all the F150's parking at the pump to fill their bank account draining trucks)! Whats next? Blaming a district attorney or entire school board because that political stunt of Desantis is gone in 30 days? I thought his fans didnt need government help and that all it takes is prayer and a gun. What has happened to all of you?

Most of us don't need Government help or from others, we just need the government to quit screwing things up, DeSantis is just giving his state a little break, figure people like you, leftist with bad luck would appreciate a little help

He’s not wrong though. DeSantis could have helped the people of Florida months ago but instead leaned on high gas prices as a talking point. Now that that talking point is going away with gas prices dropping, and people just may give Biden a tiny bit of credit, DeSantis can push the narrative back to “look what I did for you”. Again, I’ll repeat, better late than never, if it helps the people I won’t knock him for doing it, but do you not agree timing is questionable?

From what I’ve observed in other states the current supply has to be used up before the price break applies. The next delivery will be at the lower price and passed on to the buyers. Stations that go through their supply faster will have the lower price faster.

I seem to recall the GOP calling a move like this a gimmick when Biden called for a temporary pause on the Federal gas tax

That’s shouldn’t matter for gas taxes since they’re applied when the gas is sold.

I was told that the stations pay the taxes during their purchase. It’s added into the price at the pump. At least in Georgia.

If not you bring up a good point.

I’m sure it varies by state but where I live the gas station remits the taxes by the 25th of month for gas sold the previous month.

That sounds like how general sales taxes are supposed to be paid in Florida. Or at least it was when I was a bean counter.

I was in Savannah when the governor suspended the state gas tax. It went into effect a certain day. I watched the local station prices for a few days and was curious why the prices didn’t drop when it went into effect.

I stopped at a station and asked. They told me it will drop once the new shipment arrived, that they paid the tax on the purchases.

It's actually funny. DeSantis originally asked the Florida Legislature for six months of gas tax cuts. Then, he changed his mind and asked them for only one month. The bill passed back in March. Guess what month he asked them for? Yep, he asked them to delay the tax cut until October right before the election. I wonder why. :emoji_joy:

Ron DeSantis proposed delaying a tax break for Florida drivers until it was most helpful to his re-election campaign

Oh, wow. Didn’t know that history and it’s so much worse than it initially appeared. So that jackass sat through months of high gas prices with the approval to lower prices but intentionally sat on it until October to make news during the run up to the elections? And this is who conservatives like tilly and q put up on a pedestal? Sigh.

Even worse. Right after he gave multiple press conferences promising at least five months of gas tax cuts, he and his staff sent a bill to the Florida Legislature to pass that included only one month gas tax cuts and specified that month had to be October. The Florida Legislature, being the spineless lackeys they are, passed it.
