So I wake up to no ESPN/SEC games on Sling today. Does anyone know about this contract & when the channels might be restored?
Who knows when they will come to terms. ABC, ESPN, FX Pulled From Dish and Sling TV in Carriage Dispute – The Hollywood Reporter
Disney vs. dish and sling. Apparently this has been going on for awhile but Dish and Sling wait until the middle of football season on a Saturday morning to let you know. No football. No Espn, Sec network etc. I'm done with all these greedy bastards...where's my olde coat hanger antenna....
Well my plan renews on 10/03 so I'll just transfer to another service until this is fixed. I wonder if any other streaming services are in contract renewal talks.
Streaming is becoming as expensive as cable. You end up paying for channels you don't use/want. Anyway, here's what Sling says:
I have been with my cable co. for almost 30 years. I call them every year and renegotiate my fee. I am paying $165 for great high speed internet and 100's of channels, including all of the sports networks and the Starz movie channels.
Garbage excuse. Should have notified us that they were in negotiations but risked losing services if they failed. This deadline is not a surprise, they've surely been negotiating for a while and if they still hadn't reached an agreement on expiration day customers should be aware. I switched to Hulu at 9 am as slingtv showed it could give two shits about me as a customer, I don't care if they offered me all packages free for a year I'm done with them. Used them for years.
I was literally watching ESPN on sling last night. This morning I tried to watch the kentucky game at the gym but couldn’t find ESPN or secn. I thought I was going crazy since I had just seen those channels last night. Damn greedy ass mouse. I’m shocked.
You won’t be disappointed. I got rid of DirecTv 3 months ago and at the suggestion of someone I know got You Tube Tv. I am really happy with it thus far. It has all the channels of standard cable but without the boxes, etc.and is easy to set up. I mostly watch sports and a couple of other shows that I record. You can cancel at anytime. I just got off the trial so now its about $71 a month. Which isn’t bad in the big picture.
I have Hulu live, get all local channels plus all the cable channels. I guess Hulu is owned by the mouse so I get spared the negotiations bs
I have Hulu with live TV and haven't heard anything. You get the Disney+ bundle with Hulu too at a reduced rate. A little more than some other services but I can see just about any game I want. The best thing is these services are for 30-days only and can be dropped and re-added, or switched, at will. I'm sorry. I didn't get down to your reply before sending mine. You're right. Hulu and Disney both owned by the mouse.
They used to do this all the time years ago when I had cable. Used it as a bargaining chip . . . "Call your cable provider if you want ESPN back," type of garbage would scroll at the bottom of the screen.
StreamsPro. 18/mo 2000 channels. Combined with CinemaTicket for 18/3mo. For every pay channel known to man. Sigh
I remember it from cable TV but I think the providers forgot that offering streaming service available over the interwebs means that I don't have to jump through hoops to switch. No contract, no equipment, no cable guy visit, it took me 5 minutes to cancel slingtv and sign up for Hulu. Barely missed gameday. I remember the whole point of the streaming services was to pay for only what you want, so I'm definitely not going to pay for an entire channel lineup I don't want.
I guess Disney owns Hulu and ESPN so it's unlikely to be canceled. I guess I'll switch to that, they have a deal $50 per month for the first 3 months.
I know you've mentioned this service. I've seen something that requires you to buy their box & I've also seen some app.
I'd take that. I'm up to $80 a month (still on the no commercial plan) and have their useless DVR for my grandchildren.
