I see a bunch of red herrings. As I said, the easy solution here is to not appoint people racist enough to have Klan robes and hoods.

Do you feel the same about the democratic party in VA that elected a governor with racist photos in his background, who never stepped down btw?

If you do, then great, but many will justify one and condemn the other.

I would advise against that too.

Yet how were the voters in Virginia supposed to know and do you blame the Dem party in that state for not digging up the photos?

The point is, you can only dig so far.
I blame the person in the photos in each case. No one else.

Desantis knows exactly the type of people he is appointing ... this guy just screwed up and figuratively said the quiet part out loud.

Man. If thats true, then the whole state of Virginia and the whole Dem party there is the same.

    Right?

Did I ruin my sons political ambition? He was about 4 or 5 when Mr T was popular? For Halloween we dressed him up in black face, cut a 2" strip of black carpet and glued it to his head then covered him in gold chains and taught him to say "I pity the poor fool". One of the best Halloween costumes ever.

A vetting process that would find stuff like this regularly would be inefficiently expensive, invasive & most likely illegal. Shit gets by optimal vetting systems all the time.

I'm not the one who normally defends DeSantis on here as I disagree with virtually all of his politics and political gamesmanship, but the blame here lies with the guy in the photo not the guy in the governor's house.

Any one of us who grew up (especially in the deep south) in the 60's and 70's could have easily been pictured in cringeworthy Kodak or Polaroid photos or attending cringeworthy themed events or made cringeworthy insensitive comments (by today's standards) and if we are going to impose a strict liability standard today for things that happened 50-60 years ago when the world was just in a wholly different place, then most native southerners 60 or older would be guilty of something deemed inappropriate today. And that includes me.

The most important thing isn't "what we did then" but "who we are now".

There is a pattern with Desantis' ... The riot laws that seem to only apply to black people, the immigrant flights, now the KKK appointees,.just to name a few ... You don't just accidentally stumble upon people like this, it's by design. Dude is playing to white nationalists the same way Trump did.

Not in Florida anymore and dont follow as closely, but doesn't he have a strong record of cabinet appointments for minorities? Ya know, the stuff that really matters in regards to this?

You think appointing this guy to the only county in Florida that is majority black is an accident and something that doesn't really matters?

I am, I'm disturbed that his face is scratched out. Why are we going after the intended target and covering up for the others in the photo? My first guess would be that there are Democrats among that crowd and they obviously condone the behavior, after all they seem to be enjoying themselves.

Nobody wants to explain or defend scratching out the other faces in the photo......We have seen many of this type photo before, how come not a one of them had faces removed. There must be a reason.

I dont think he had a clue this guy wore a costume. It may matter to those who think it was purposely done.

    Now answer my question.

DeSantis knows exactly what he is appointing ... This guy just screwed up and made it too obvious.

As to your question? By your logic, If all Democrats are responsible for the VA governor then all Republicans are responsible for the FL governor. Is that really the point you want to make? I didn't vote for Desantis or the Va gov....
