What change is the left forcing you to accept? That LGBTQ people are no longer in the closet and are now accepted part of society? Or some people wish that as a sign of respect, you use their chosen pronoun? To me, that's not forcing any agenda down anyone's respective throat. That's basic human decency.

I don't like the whole pronoun thing either, but it hurts me zero to call someone they/them out of respect. Or apologize if I mis-pronoun someone, and explain as someone who has done marketing copywriting for years, that sometimes my brain refers to years of training to make sure pronouns agree with the antecedent, and calling a single person they used to be grammatically incorrect. But things change, and getting angry at said change serves absolutely no purpose.

And those on the right always seem upset that things are changing. I get it. They prefer to "conserve" things as they are. And things that showcase the change, like LGBTQ or CRT are treated as evil, and things to fear, which you can plainly see in many right-wing political ads. Just saying that asking people to use their preferred pronouns and saying that's shoving their beliefs down your throat is also an example. Again, how is this something to be feared or evil?

Progress always progresses slowly. And people often fail to learn from history. At least we're not turning the fire hoses on LGBTQ people, but the arguments that people should accept a minority and treat them with respect as equals is shoving beliefs down other's throat sounds exactly like what a lot of white people were making during the Civil Rights era.

As for the MAGA movement, it's a Fascist movement with Trump as the leader. There should be no denying it at this point. And Fascism doesn't end well for the minority that is forced to live under the Fascist rule. Biden was correct in calling a spade a spade, even if it pushed more MAGA people even farther right. But if those in the center can now see the movement more clearly, then MAGA will lose its power in all but heavy red areas. And those very red areas are some of the same that it took decades for the Civil Rights Movement to take hold.

I very much agree that the tribal assaults only lead to hardening of views. I think this is a shame because both groups are full of good people that just keep driving the other side away.

As for living the way you want, I also agree with this, but I see it as a two way road. If people want to marry someone of their own sex, the left wants to allow it.

In the end, I don’t know how to do it, but we need to come up with a way to stop scoring points off each other and find a way to feel good about larger wins.

I’m sorry you have felt attacked. That’s certainly not my goal. Unfortunately, it seems both sides feel this way.

I guess I get it now. It is no longer enough to respect everyone's differences, accept them as they are so we can all just get along. Most did that, but then we found that was no longer enough. Natural born males could convert to trans and we should let them compete in women's sports. People of color have had equality for years and all but a few support that fully. But some hack writes an op-ed on 1619 and now everyone wants CRT taught to our kids. As long as we don't resist, we will get along just swell, but God help us if say enough already. We stick our foot in the ground, vote to change that and we are now all MAGA haters, fascists, and white supremist bigot's. I may not understand you, but I can guarantee you don't understand me, nor 50% of the country.

I can think of no one who wishes to change that, so call it what it is, a "red herring".

I don’t follow public opinion polls, so perhaps the right has dropped this issue, as you suggest, but if they never opposed it, there would not have been a fight.

Regardless, the right definitely has their own issues with personal lliberty. Eg They are definitely less in support of legalization of drugs. It’s simply unlikely that a particular side has chosen “correctly” on all imaginable issues.

In your first post, you defined the sides as the right and the left, so sorry, your side is the right and the right wants to take away abortion rights for everyone. Maybe you need to fight to change it on the right if you feel strongly enough about it.

And no one is stopping you from doing whatever you decide to do either. What specifically do you think you are being prevented from doing by the left?

We had a fair election in 2020 and many on your side tried to overturn it. Many still are trying to overturn it. How do you feel about that?

No one anywhere was trying to teach CRT in elementary schools. It was a graduate school level curriculum. But your disinformation providers latched onto it as coming to a kindergarten near you.

I understand you just fine. It's enough that LGBTQ people are now allowed to live. That should be enough for them! But if you have to call them by the proper pronouns, forget it! Where does the line stop!!!

As for CRT, African Americans have had equality on paper for decades. But one of the question CRT attempts to answer is if this is true, why is nearly 24% of Americans living in poverty are of African descent when they make up only just under 13% of the population? It's a good question that should be studied, should it not? And CRT provides a lot of input and reasoning behind the answer. In history, many AA's weren't allowed to own banks and provide loans for fellow AA's to own businesses, and many white owned banks redlined AA loans for both businesses and houses. This prevented many AA families from accumulating the same amount of wealth as their white counterparts. And when AA's did have their own Wall Street to help other AA's, it was literally burned to the ground in Tulsa, OK.

What's wrong with teaching this history to high school and college students? Same way, what's the problem with calling someone they/them if they ask you to refer to them using these pronouns?

I know the answer. Fear. Fear that somehow, calling someone they/them an accepting LGBTQ people will somehow turn others gay. And fear that teaching the true history of this country will paint white people as evil, and that somehow this dishonor will carry on to today, as if our culture were like Klingons, and the sins of the parents carry down through generations.

So along comes a guy like Trump, who plays up these fears to the nth degree. He becomes the savior of all things those with fear think the way the world should be, and a Fascist, populist leader is born. Those who study history has seen this story play out many times.

The "left" is extreme in response to the "right" inability to evolve and be accepting. Then they get hit with that same attitude they've been throwing out for eons, and they act like little children.

I don't refer to the entire democratic party as socialist liberals, because I don't believe they are. That said, the farthest socialist side, though a minority, seems in control now. You may be good on social justice issues, fine if so, but I haven't painted you with the same brush I would use for the squad. Yet you seem to thank that 50% of the country is not just MAGA supporters, but Fascist hating white supremacy bigots, no exception allowed; and you wonder why we can't get along. You call us haters, but I feel an awful lot coming from your side w/o justification. I tire of this conversation, so see you later alligator.

Not all conservatives are MAGA. Liz Cheney and I have a lot of differing political views. But I respect her views, and the fact she puts her country ahead of her political party, even at personal cost. Jeff Flake, from my home state, did the same.

But if you are MAGA, like our current President, who won the election over Trump, I will call a spade a spade. And MAGA and their supporters are modern day Fascists. This sign hangs in a Holocaust Museum. Tell me, which ones can't be directly pegged on Trump and MAGA?

Okay fine, you just believe that half the country is Fascist haters, good luck with that. I have changed my mind after all.

I’m against whichever side blindly follows their leader in a cult-like manner and who is eroding our democracy. And speaking of children……Jan 6th. Talk about a entitled group that mentally couldn’t handle losing.

You didn't answer my question about the 2020 election. Many on your side tried to overturn that fair election and the will of the people. How do you feel about that?

If you can't have a mature discussion and defend your side from Fascist accusations, and the best you can do is childish name calling, maybe it's time to read the Fascist poster again, while looking in the mirror?

If you want to do a little more reading as to why I call Trump and his followers Fascists, I suggest reading some Umberto Eco. He was an Italian philosopher and writer who grew up under Mussolini's regime. I do not take the accusation of Trump and MAGA being Fascist lightly, but everything Trump has done makes the description apt.

The Democratic party is made up of such raging leftists that they nominated and sent...let me check...Joe Biden to the White House. Look at how radical they are!
