What do you mean he got a perfect 4.0 at FSU with a specialty in Particle Physics. According to FSU he invented a clown nose he used to cloak himself which is why he was never seen in class.
Jamey Chadwell from Coastal is an interesting name that is popping up for that job. He runs a very hybrid type option offense and it’s fun to watch. I think he could be successful anywhere he went.
Congratulations on giving me a negative rating for no reason then complaining when I return the favor.
I'm genuinely curious, but why would you care how some anonymous person rated a random post? Some of you guys take the internet far too seriously...
As a GT alumus I was always more than happy that the academic reputation helped foster my professional career nationally and never felt I was at an disadvantage with anyone else in that regard. Football and hoops were simply a welcome distraction and release of tension. In addition to seeing real crazed and roudy fans I got to see some pretty good games too. SOS was on the side lines as an assistant coach and the QB and the RB were pretty good then. Later years, however, did not prove to be kind yo GT with the talent. I guess they never committed to the the arms race, which is fine by me. But, geez, you would think they could do better.
The old story going around at the time was that they were fed up with the self-serving, ham-fisted way the Bammers ran the SEC like they owned it - and just pulled out. It is important to remember that in those days (early 60s) Tech was a juggernaut and Bobby Dodd was revered as an all-time great HC. There was a time when they faced UGA on an equal footing.
how bad do they want to win at football though? I mean it’s becoming obvious playing college football is all about money and not academics. Will some of these schools start dropping standards?
I sure hope Ga Tech doesn’t. It would be nice if UGa had an in state rival for a number of reasons, but I’d hate to see a fine institution like Ga Tech sell out and lose their identity
I see your point, but you know Duke has high standards of academics, yet I’m sure since basketball is king there I’m sure they let some players avoid that standard.
For whatever reason (like money), a smaller elite school like Duke can simultaneously pull off top flight academics and basketball. Look at Gonzaga. Football is another animal completely - and a much bigger one
that’s right… it’s all about $$$$…. You lower your standards in one sport because of the popularity and success , yet in another sport that doesn’t generate the revenue and same success you sustain that “academic standard.” It’s all about the money sadly.
Ga. Tech is a very difficult school to win at. Geoff Collins is a pretty good DC and I think he lands a good job as a DC before trying HC again.
