Being convicted of crimes and being imprisoned are not the same thing. I agree with you that imprisonment has no chance of happening, but conviction on some charges is a remote but possible chance.

Do you include Trump in the “riled up morons”, or are you intent on pretending these people were there by happenstance? A few thousand idiots showing up and acting on their own is not directly a threat to national security. The problem is these people were NOT just acting alone. They believed they were under orders from President Trump. How did this happen? Trumps operatives fed them a narrative and gave them a time and date to “Stop the Steal”. So yeah, a few thousand morons is hardly a national security threat. A few thousand morons responding to a deranged President just might be, but I’d suggest the deranged President is the true NatSec threat.

The media isnt calling extremists conservatives to gloss over extremism. They are calling extremists conservatives so as to paint all conservatives as extremists.

The conservatives who stand by or vote with extremists may as well themselves be extremist. When you look at the party now, there aren’t many who stood up to Trump… and those handful are being punished. Where are these “good”conservatives? Why aren’t they being represented in Congress? Why is everything ceded to the unserious people like the Jim Jordan’s and MTG’s?

I get some of it is party affiliation. Let’s say a “normie” country club (R) living in MTG’s district, maybe they voted against her in the primary but still voted for her in the general because of the (R). That still puts that person in league with that type of politics imo. The only way to maintain integrity and wash hands of it is to vote for her opponent or abstain if the opponent is particularly bad. But I’d suggest in cases as severe as MTG even abstaining is a bad move. You must go all-in to defeat them. I felt that same way about Trump in 2016 and everything I’ve seen 100% confirms that. Unfortunately there appears to be zero appetite to defeat extremism in the Conservative party, so as far as I’m concerned not only is the media criticism valid it is fully warranted.

There was absolutely no symbolism involved when the crowd put one finger in the air, and it definitely had nothing to do with Qanon. But just in case ...

QAnon isn’t the correct cult to follow when at a trump rally.

just think about this - security guards telling them to lower their hand because that isn’t the message they want to send. Talk about mind control.

It seems no one really knows anything about this “cult”. So far it looks like a lot of hyperbole and trump based hate towards his rally. Was it it weird… yes. Did the music or finger in the air have significant meaning… no not really.
Trump is losing ground. Each and every week. One of the articles posted was how 100s of Qunon supporters showed up in Texas.
Hundreds? Really? This is a non event. Trump will eventually go away… and much faster if the press and left quit making him out to be a supreme villain boogey man. He is a sad little politician that is in far over his head. Like FSU in sports.
As for supporters being elected to congress… there was much about Trumps political strategies people liked. Stronger borders. Cutting ties with enemy countries. Stronger economy. Just because trump… and congress men he aupoorts like those things doesn’t make them bad.. and voting for people who agree with those things doesn’t make you a trump want to be.
Even though the media and left want to present it as such.
Right now you are either fully on board with the lefts ideology OR you are a conspiracy nutter qunon believer mags trumper.
    No middle ground.

And conversely a significant percentage if not the overwhelming majority of supporters of the extreme positions of the former president as well as racist and nativist narratives like "Great Replacement Theory" call themselves conservatives possibly to portray themselves of adherents of a legitimate political philosophy.

    Speaking of Trump rallies.
Pro-Trump ‘Truth’ Rally Fizzles—Draws Nearly As Many Counter-Protesters
The rally undoubtedly would have drawn more spectators if the Dear Leader himself was the headliner. Apparently the MyPillow guy, Trump's standin and one of the high priests in the Cult of the Orange God just doesn't have the charisma of the Dear Leader himself.

While he is the human equivalent of a malicious pathogen Trump doesn't actually meet the definition of a virus even though he apparently has infected millions of American with a disease in which the primary symptom is massive delusions.

He should've gone away after November 2020. Yet here we are, a few months away from 2023, and he's still the head of the Republican party. But yeah, that's the lEfT and mEdIA's fault.
