Really good points, thx. one item is the underperformance of the RAF. It was expected they would overwhelm. Maybe Ukraine has enough missile defense systems, F jets, and ManPADS to keep the RAF at-bay. Especially beyond the front.

That’s, like — what? — the 10th reference you’ve made to transgender people in the U.S. military. First, no matter how we skin this thing, transgender people make up a negligible percentage of the military; in 23 years of service, I have never met one such person as far as I know. Second, even if our military was overwhelmingly composed of transgender people, so what? It’s Ukraine you have to beat (and aren’t). Third, even if Ukraine’s levee en masse military was now filled with transgender people, what’s more embarrassing? Having such a military? Or losing to it in the field (which you are)?

But by all means, keep up the transgender references, Ghost of Kyiv, annexation of Texas, Russia is fighting in a different direction, etc. If snark was an adequate substitute for tactical and operational success, then your army would have already linked up in Transnistria and be postured to “liberate” the Baltic states.

While I think the criteria for the fellowship are somewhat flaky, other than encouraging female Air Force Academy cadets to apply, the Air Force appears to have absolutely nothing to do with the selection of candidates. The fellowship is sponsored by a private foundation which is the entity responsible for awarding the fellowships. The US government doesn't appear to be involved in either the selection of candidates or the awarding of fellowships.

In response to a q, if Russia uses nukes.
    WH:

“They reiterated that there would be consequences and specified that that would include additional enhanced sanctions, including sanctions on entities and companies outside of Russia that are supporting the Russian war machine or supporting these fake referenda or Russia's efforts,"

I assume that means sanctions on china.

I hope that’s just for public consumption. If Russia uses WMD of any kind, and our only response is more sanctions (when we’re already pretty maxed out on economic measures, frankly), then I would take that as a green light to use them. Because why not?

Reading elsewhere that Putin recorded several meetings for later distribution and has retreated to his mansion by the Black Sea to heal his body and mind. Fingers crossed that it is his health problems reaching an end stage

Just subtle hints of a US military in free fall. I’m going to talk less about the comparative strengths of the Russian and Ukrainian militaries and the real reason why the Pentagon isn’t (officially) putting boots on the ground in Ukraine.

Looks like the new Italian PM is going to be all-in on supplying weapons to Ukraine, ensuring that more Ukrainians are going to die. It stands to reason as she is an unapologetic fascist.

Talking trash about Alabama doesn’t make a lot of sense when you’re losing to Middle Tennessee State.

Putin has escaped to a secret palace in a forest amid anti-draft protests in Russian cities, report says

Russian President Vladimir Putin escaped to his secret palatial complex near Lake Valdai, halfway between Moscow and St Petersburg, amid anti-draft protests in Russia, MailOnline was first to report.
According to independent journalist Farida Rusamova, who cited three sources familiar with Putin's schedule, the Russian president traveled to his vacation home on Wednesday.
He has been resting his "body and soul" at the luxury complex, which is situated within a forest, Rusamova said in a Telegram post

For months now the Russians have been so keen to commit war crimes and kill civilians that they’ve ...

Fired Ukrainian missiles from Ukrainian territory to kill Ukrainians who’ve been waiting eight years to join Russia.

Withdrawn from areas around Kyiv and killed their own collaborators on the way out.

Continuously shell a nuclear power plant in area they control.

Since you mentioned Covid apparently this guy so fears becoming infected that he separates himself from participants at his meetings by sitting at the end of a long table.

I’m FAR from a Putin-worshipper. I was supremely disappointed when he panicked along with nearly every other head-of-state.

That said, he was likely trolling with his long table.

I heard during the Black Death, his Holiness the Pope would only receive guests while surrounded by a literal ring of fire.

I wonder how that fat, bald, old Putin properly serviced his mistresses at that social distance. Viagra only does such much …

Certainly not the message that he was actually sending. If Putin's intention by using the long table to symbolize his power it really backfired.

He threw the 2016 election with $400 in Facebook adds, has reduced Europe to shambles and is grinding to dust America’s great proxy. Not bad for a weakling.
