AR needs to come back and win next season with a much improved defense

I honestly think we can be a year early and a legit contender next year should AR come back.

    1) He will have a full year of experience as a starter under his belt and the team around him overall will be better (think defense and then skill potion players around him). The roster clearly won’t be at an elite Bama Georgia type roster yet but it will be a step closer than what it is this year AND he will be the best qb out of any of those teams which could be the difference as we know it in college.

    2) The draft eligible class of qb’s this year is ridiculous. Even with an elite season from here on out he’s the 4th best available qb at best and possibly lower. The following year he could be the number 1 qb on the board and should he develop how we all think he will he could even go number 1 overall. Because then the production would match the potential.

    3) Justin Herbert came back to get another full year in the system despite being a top 10 potential pick (which AR isn’t even that now) and it paid massive dividends as he went into the league ready to go be good as a rookie. He would be well served to speak with Hebert in the off-season if he continues to have a good year and is talked about as a first round draft pick.

    4) This is less relevant but more from and emotional standpoint. Kid bleeds orange and blue, is the home town kid and wants to be remembered as a Gator Great that brought us back to national prominence. Would be awesome if he had that mindset as I truly believe he knows this is all possible.

    Go Gators!

It makes a lot of assumptions, and depends on how Richardson progresses through the season. NIL money is one thing, but NFL money is another.

Even coming back is no guarantee, though...Florida still has a lot of holes to fill (either in recruiting or the transfer portal). Look back at '20 with Trask, doesn't help to score 35pts a game if your defense gives up 40+. That being said, being able to open the season with Richardson would be a huge win for the team.

8 games to go, he could play himself into being the number 1 pick or out of the job, who knows.

I certainly expect him back next season at this point. A lot could change but I just doubt it

I like the kid, I think his humility is awesome, and I also don't think he's anywhere close to being NFL ready. I realize the money part is a real lure, but he needs a lot more experience and opportunities to work on his game before I think he'll be an NFL success. He's had more poor performances than good ones, but every time he has a very good game, the NFL talk raises its head. He needs to develop a lot more consistency. Having said that, if it looks like he could get a gazillion dollars for opting for the league after this season, I wouldn't tell him not to go for it, since you never know what the future holds.

Presumptuous to think our D will be good. I'm guessing lots of youth and hopefully quality transfers. Then at this point (I said at this point) I'm not sure what kind of DC we have.

But yes, I'm hoping AR returns

I agree with this. None of the OL starters are seniors, the RBs are sophomores and a freshman, add a WR with some speed(ala, Aiden Mizell), get our TEs in the mix a little more, add a transfer portal guy or two at positions of need and the offense, should AR come back, will be unbelievable.

AR coming back would be AWESOME for UF, of course, but if he's projected top 15 in the draft, there's zero chance he comes back. None of us would either. You take the guaranteed money and go.

We aren’t in his shoes. I don’t know his economic situation, but if he positions himself in a way to make upwards of a million dollars, I don’t see a lot of poor kids turning that down. Like the saying goes…tomorrow isn’t promised.

Good chance you're right, and should he go, I'll be grateful that he was here this year and wish him great success. I think the offensive line is going to be one of the best out there, and maybe the best in the country, if he comes back next year. But if he goes, I understand why.

Could dip his toe in the portal, if he finds a better supporting cast & NIL.

Wasn’t this board mostly wanting to bench him last week? o_O

Not that anything said here matters, but the tone change is hilarious. Obviously the real world performance was drastically different too. Probably the most bi-polar 4 games you will ever see when breaking in a new starting QB.

Here we go again...AR's head got filled with $ after Utah. Why would any NFL team draft him...he hasnt shown any consistency. His best bet is to actually stick around next year.

Find a QB through portal, bank on some improvement on D.

True but I wish these kids would get better information on what happens when you get it. A million isn't what it used to be and when you go from nothing to a million, it can be confusing and a little scary. If you are smart about it, even if you are only in the league for 4 or 5 years, you could be set for life.

Why? Miller was ahead of Kitna and Kitna looked pretty good (assuming Richardson does not come back).
